PPL with Tein SS, Please chime in!

Hey everyone,

I am planning on purchasing a set of full coilovers this spring time but I wanted to figure out what people thought of the Tein Super Street coilovers. I have been comparing Tein SS, Tein Basics, and Megan Coilovers. I'm leaning towards the SS at the moment just because the name is better known but I have read reviews on all of them and its hard to pick out which one seems to be the best.

If anyone has Tein SS, please tell me your experience with them and if you were buy again, would you pick the same?

I'm also interested on how well they ride! Thanks guys/girls

-mike

tein ss are....okay. for street use they're pretty good, but they're limited if you plan on racing them. i've heard megans are just as good as the ss's, but if you want the tein name then go for it.

I have the Tein SS-P full coilover and love em....I did a bunch of research before I got them, and this was what I decided would be best. Good overall set of coilovers. If you decide to get really into autox and other aspects of roadsports with them, you may need to upgrade later, but they are a great street/race coilover in my opinion, just not full-race.

Friends with either Tein SS or Megans have given me positive feedback on both. Either way, I'm sure you'd be happy with the set up.

I am very happy with my Tein SS. I've had them since 03 and I have no complaints. The drop is real nice (not too low, just perfect) and the ride is great (a bit rough under stiffest setting but that is the point). I recommend them alot because I have personally beat the hell out of it (including 2.5 years in European roads, tons of pot holes & cobble stone roads) and have not had a single problem with them. Some people here have blown the shock but I cant understand how since I've hit some HORRIBLE potholes and they are still good as new. Now you might want to look into the BASIC setup if you are not too worried with changing the dampning settings (I change them maybe 2 times a year) and that can save you some money that you can use somewhere else. Good luck with the suspension shopping.

I've been riding on Tein SS for 3 yrs now and I love them. I would definitely buy them again. Mine is just driven on the street. I adjusted it to one setting and never touched it since.

I've been riding the Tein SS coilovers for 7 months with no complaints. Over the stock suspension or stock shocks with springs; they ride great. I've a got a great ride stance and excellent handling.

TEIN SS FTW!!!!

I've had the Tein SS setup now for 3 years and love it, however I think I may have a problem. My RF damper adjustment doesn't seem to work anymore. Its nigh impossible to adjust it and when I force it, it doesn't make a difference. This started about 8 months ago. I'm about to pull off the car and take a look at them, so we'll see. Up until this point, I've been very happy with them. Hope that helps.

are these comapatible with the EDFC? i want EDFC compatible and i might get the Flex if they are only ones compatible. i know the mono-flex are being relased soon.

According to Tein, SS aren't compatible with EDFC
SS-P are compatible (EDK05-12140)

Tein SS' will work with EDFC if you have the pillow ball mounts.

You know Tein's can be rebuilt... I think I'm starting to have problems with my front right coilover... But thinking of sending mine to Japan to get rebuilt...

BTW, I've been running Flex for over 2 years now...

For the comparison with Tein and Megan Racing. I have Tein Flex's and my brother has Megan Racing... I think they're both good, but mine's more stiffer... But then again, I have the Flex. I've been in a car with the SS for a little bit and the SS seem softer than the Flex.

I'm thinking for the money, I woulda went with the Megan Racing Coilovers. Cause the Megan's already comes with Pillowball upper mounts and a separate height and spring pre-load adjustment...

But that's what I think... I'm not sure if you bought the SS already... (Too lazy to read everything)
