Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

My car started making this weird noise at low speeds; it sounds kinda like: uuuuuuuuu...... don't flame, it's really the best way to decribe it. It happens usually while going around a curve and sometimes when going on straights, but always at low speeds.
Anyways.. I searched, but all that came up was the typical popping noise from the springs.
Has anybody had a similar problem, what can this be related to?

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

My car makes the exact same noise, it is also happening on slight left turns and slower starts, once i get to 3rd gear it goes away. I have taken it to a local tire shop and they cannot find any damage to the front end (underneath) I really want to know what this is as well. My car is lowered on a prokit with tokico blues but has been flawless for the past 2 years until this winter.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

sounds like ur wheel bearings are going out...check all of the bushings in the front suspension and rear...also it could be your tires too because when they are moving at low speed they can be making road noise until higher speeds

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

^^^ might be right.....i dont mean to jack ur thread but...how about a faint squeaky noise coming from the front right side of the car...it soudns like its behind the wheel liek coming from the suspension. im on a stock suspension completely. it makes it when im going over small bumps in the road or ona crappy road or speed bumps...sometimes its very very faint jus driving slow speeds. at higher speed i cant hear anything.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

to check your wheel bearings, raise the car and wiggle the wheel..... no not rotate, wiggle it in and out. if it wiggles it's the bearing..... just pray it's not cuz bearings run 150-250 installed EACH

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

How many KMs does your car have? Have you hit any huge potholes or anything recently or performed any modifications?

Might just need a good greasing. Go get some white lithium grease and lube up some bushings etc.

Also check your tires and make sure the tread is still good.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

I'm not so good in english and I'm not sure but I have similar problem...: last week I put my new suspension on my civic 2003 4drs (tokico d-spec/ coil b&g)...I have a big clocking/popping noise when I drive at every whole in road (clok clok clok) like if the spring moved on the shock and when I turn my wheels ( at 0kmh ) only at left, I hears a popping noise and I feal it in streering...please help me I don't have an idea...the noise comes only from the left...my bearing in top plate? coils?

ps: I buy tokico d-spec for 01-02 and I drill the shock whole at 16mm and the bolt are stiff inside....and when I remove the coil from the shock ( left ), the bearing of top plate pop outside but I replaced each ball bearing in your place and I put grease on it...he missed bearing? thanks for reply and sorry for my poor english

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

hmmm....this past weekend 04-28-2007 I installed tokico d-spec DSP-6 kit with vogtland springs on my 2001 civic lx cp, and I followed the installation instructions by MEX, and I followed the indexing instructions too. After installing them, i did not get any popping or clicking noise when turning or driving over bumps.

Jonathan_20, did you index your upper perch and upper mount properly with the strut? If not, try it and tell us if it went away.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

I was having similar problems, the front right wheel was making little clunking sounds when i would make left turns. I got new tires at sear auto center and told them to check it out. The ended up replacing the tie rod, cost about 100 bucks. Right out of the parking lot it still made the sound but it wasnt as loud so i dont know if that was the prob or not. f-in sears

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

i get the same pop making a left hand turn outta my parking spot (I back in). maybe has something to do with the car just starting up... I usually wait 15seconds before taking off for the engine to get it together. I dont have a front sway on, or the endlinks... that that eliminates that.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

I think it's my bearing, but before I change my shock and my coil, my car don't make popping noise when I turn at standstill or at low speed, it's very weird!!!I have 3 choices, my bearings are badly placed or missing bearings, my top plate was badly align with the rest of strut or I bored my hole too large ( tokico 01-02 14mm an my car 16mm )

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

FYI
I had a poping sound from the right side of my car and it would pull occasionally.
Recently I changed my tires and the tire shop realized that my boot was busted and leaked grease on the inside of the rims.
They replaced the right CV joint and I don't have the poping sound anymore.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

yeah, the cv joint is pretty common, but I believe it should only pop while you're driving. usually when your cv joint goes it start by popping when you're turnning, but once all the grease is spun out of it and it starts getting bad it'll pop all the time.

As for the original post I was going to say the bearings should be check, but it's been said so many times. I had the same noise happen on a previous car and it was the bearings. You said it happens at low speed, it's probably getting a little higher pitch as you accelerate, right? Anyhow, get it checked before it causes more damage. Good luck.

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

ok...today I ajust my shock more smooth and the noise is more loud, when I turn at low speed and at standstill! I have questions for you : when I changed my suspension, I put my coil at the same place in rubber ( upper seat below top plate ) but I don't place the 3 arrows like that : https://www.civicforums.com/forums/4...like-pics.html

do all the coil finish at the same place????is this the same number of revolutions as those OEM coil? If not, I don't replace the top plate correctly?? since I changed my suspension my car makes a lot of noise, clocking/popping noise in front when I turned and I have a **** noise at rear...f**k...somebody can help me????? thanks all

Re: Weird noise..suspension or bearings problem??

I have the same problem when i drive i hear the whooooooooooooooo sound especially low speeds and turns i went to do a tune up and told me it was the wheel bearing on the right. The price was rediculous to fix so i passed i went shopping around and found a shop that only uses genuine parts not "OEM like parts " it seemed like a decent shop they did the right side for 240 and told me that my bushings were bad and i had a leak on my left shock so i still hear the sound and im out 240 thinking it would go away please help.....Should i spend the dough and get the bushings and fix the shock and pray thats what it is? BTW i love the site first post....new honda owner of 2001 ex coupe
