In a pickle
Alright, so I got 17 inch wheels sitting in my garage, they are a bit bent up, and have some tires on them. Paid 75 for the set, so not a big loss if I dont use them
Here is my pickle
Should I
A. spend 150 to get the wheels fixed, and then another 175 for 2 new tires
or
B. Spend 200 or so on lowering springs (can i use the factory struts BTW)
....ride on stock 14 inch 70 profile wheels?
....get a front strut bar
....get a strut bar in my trunk (i think you can put them there)
I am asking, because apparently, lower profile=better cornering, but I think that if I lower my car by 1.5-2 inches, and ride on stock wheels, combined with strut bar(s), it will handle better anyway. Input apretiated

your best bet is to save the cash when it comes to dropping the car and go with a spring and shocks purchase all at once or you could buy some TRUE coilovers...either way look at spending more than 500.00 on a proper drop

Alright, with the given options, I say just get your rims fixed and pop them on there. Worry about a drop later. I still haven't gotten my drop, but anyone one here is gonna flame you hard if you paint your hubcaps gunmetal.

yea lol dont paint your caps. i took my ***** off. there ugly big puffy tires isnt my thing. thats why im getting 17s in a couple monthes or so. and about lowering your car, do it the right way. my drop is 2 inches but its not slammed. i have tein springs no aftermarket shocks or anything. i didnt have people to tell me to get it all at once but mine work fine. nothings blown out. its hard to tell when you blow them. theres nothing bad that can come with it just that your gonna have to get new shocks and struts sometime anyway so do it all at once cause whats the point in paying someone to but your suspension on and then come back later and have to do it again for the shocks and stuff. it actually saves you money. but remember you will get lit up for painting your hubs.

Yeah, flat or gloss shouldnt be floating around in your head right now.
"puffy tires" yeah... I feel you on that. Good way of explaning it. I have some toyo's they arent bad... but same as stock size- slightly stiffer sidewalls... but nothing much different. Wear thoes down and we're talking rims and then the drop.
As long as you know what size rims your going to put on there, you should go ahead and do the drop, IMO. Kuz when people do drops with stock wheels, and then upgrade- dont want to find out that the rim doesnt compliment the wheel well nicely.
Good luck man!

I think what I will do is just replace OEM broken parts with aftermarket ones. For example if I blow my stock suspention, I wil get a drop. If I need to replace my exhaust because of rust, I will get a bigger one. An intrake I will get either way though.

dont go cheap on suspension its the most important thing on the car and if you cant spend 600 on suspension you might as well give up tuning on the car because your gonna end up buying cheap stuff and its going to break on you then your going to have to shell out for the better parts in the long run.

not true. i've been running stock shocks and struts with my neuspeed sports for more than 2 years now, and the ride has been as good as ever. i'm pretty sure gearbox is on his stockers too. just get a set of used eibach or neuspeed sports on here, and install it yourself. shouldnt cost you more than $100 if you do it that way, and you'll still be getting qaulity parts. and think about it, if / when you do blow your struts, you can change them out for aftermarket ones later.

you dont NEED to have the compressor, i installed my sportlines without one just be damn careful. i used the compressor for the first one and after that i decided that the compressor took too damn long. check out the DIY and follow it step by step. pretty easy job actually. good luck
