Coilover Problems! Help plz!

I just installed my Progress coilovers. But everytime I turned, the front springs would move and throw my alignment off. I went to get an alignment, and the guy said maybe it wasn't installed properly. I did everything according to the manual and double checked. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this, plz help me out. Thx!

bump

WEll you alignment is getting trown off cause you ajusting it, thats obvious. But an easy way is kind of what i did. mi car is lowered but not slammed. the front is 24 inchs to the center of the light and the rear is 25 to the center of the rear end. Bassiacally i took a tape messure and mesured from the center of the wheel well to the outter ege of the rim. and ajusted till i had 4.5 in the front and 4.75 in the rear. then i added my camber ajustment kit and took it to get allighned. Havent touched it since.

Started like:

ended like:

LOL. Thx, but that's not the problem. When i said turn, i mean by driving and making left and right turns....and not adjusting the height. It's making noises and i think the springs are moving when I turn from a stop. Then my alignment would be thrown completely off. This doesn't happen if i go 20+ mph. This is freaking me out. I have no idea what's causing this. Any help is appreciated.

It could be the guy that did your alignments fault? or post pics to see if it's installed properly.

**** i hope i don't run into this problem when i install mine. you did use the stock bearings right? try jacking the car up and make sure they fall in place when you lower it back down. is it doing it on both sides? I'm not sure whats all that has to be used from the stock parts. but it seems like the bearing isn't tight enough on the spring which causes the whole bearing to move and no do its job. i hope you can fig this out be fore i get mine in

Every nut and bolts are torqued. I did use all the stock parts as the manual stated. I did jack the car up, everything looks good, but it does look like something is missing. I'm still waiting for supermex's response on this issue.

Ok i used the factory strut bearing and the upper strut mount. That's the only things the manual said to use from stock parts. Is there anything else i nees to modify or use?

I know an alternative, trade me for my D2 full coilovers. Have you contacted progress or dezod about the problem?

^^^^^If it doesn't have to be indexed maybe you should make sure the top cap is in the same position as it would be on the stock struts. with the indexed mark to the front, its worth a shot. i hope mine get here this week that way i can post pics of the install.

When I installed my B&G Coilovers I had to buy 2001 upper mount bearings. That's because I had a 2005 and the coilovers were made for 2001.

The 2001 is shaped like a circle were it meets the coilover and on the 2005 it was shaped like a triangle if I remember correctly. Since they are not shaped alike they will not fit correctly. Maybe that's the problem. Hope this helps.

Huh. That's something to think about. I thought the only difference was the mount holes. I have a 2004, so this could be the problem.

Yeah. A lot of people says it's the bearing and i think this is surely the problem. Mine is sitting pretty lose cause i have a 2004. If we can see the difference between the two, then we can solve this issue once and for all.

I don't have any pics of the 05 bearing. Check this link out. http://gametrax.net/b+g/ This link has pics that compare the differance how the 2001 upper bearing to the 2002-2005 bearing and explains why 2002-2005 will not seat properly on a coilover made for a 2001 Civic.

If your coilovers were made for the 2001 and you have 2002-2005 then you'll need part #10 and #11 and quanity of two for part #9 from a 2001 Civic. You can get them at your Honda dealer or order them online at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. Hope this helps.

ok this is absolutely the problem. I did jack up the car, and i've seen that the bearings sitting on top of the springs is lose. There is a lot of room for the bearings to move around.
I mean, when i order this, it clearly states that it was made for 2001-2005. I guess we're gonna have to take it out with Dezod on this one.

So we need parts #9, 10, and 11?
Looks like we just need #9 tho. We know the bearings are different. Is the strut mount different too?

This is probably 99% correct. These coilovers need to be indexed otherwise the clicking and popping will occur. That has been the #1 mishap on installs of these coilovers.

Furthermore, if you have a metal bearing in the 04-05 models, you MAY need the plastic version, which is Progress Part # 66.0102 or Honda # 51726-S5A-004, which is about $14.

Ok i'll give this a try tomorrow. Thx guys.

What a waste of 3 hours. The cap is sitting the right way and the noise is still there. I'm starting to think it's the bearings now...?
