Weird Noise

hey guys i dropped my car about 6 months ago on Neuspeed 2 inch springs. They look fine, only one problem i had this knocking noise before the car was dropped. this knocking problem happens when i would turn the wheel and comes from the passenger front side. No its not an axel they checked and the noise happens mostly when the car is stopped. they checked the bushing and got them changed .I dropped the car and the noise got a little louder i guess more stress? dunno my allignment was off for a while now so i took it to NAPA and got a full allignment 145 bucks, 1hr later .......the allignment helped somehwhat but not much. The guys told me a i needed a Camber kit im going to get one does it matter if its from Ebay? Also does anyone know where the knocking noise is coming from? Is getting the Camber kit gonna help. This mechanic a while back told me its this bronze type color bar that passes thru the bottom? Sorry for long story. dont want to end up slamming into a wall thanks

you need a new axle or cv boot.. that is why it knocks when you turn, its not your suspension

well thats the only knocking i know of when turning like you said.

i have that too. I get the knock/crunchy sound from the passenger-front when i turn my steering wheel far to the right when the car is not moving or very slowly, like turning out of a parking lot.

I put in an Eibach Prokit (only 1" drop) a while back but have gone back to stock. That's when the knock came about (not while the Eibachs were on). Ive had the axle and knuckle replaced in an attempt to make it go away

I suspect the spring just isnt seating properly, after I had the OEM springs and new struts installed. and its grinding & popping back into place, as the strut tower turns.

i got the same problem but i was told that it is the strut mounts on top they get dry and dont move right. i put my hand on my left spring..... smooth as hell..... put my hand on my right spring and it had this grinding feeling. so im going to either replace my shocks and struts or just replace the mounts.

Its annoying....i feel like its gonna break or pop out. But its not an axel or cv boot cause everything checked out fine. I thought it was the spring popping out cause it sounds dry also and once in awhile it knocks. So what would u guys suggest getting the spring taking out and put back in?? Or just leave it? And as for the Camber Kits are they worth getting???Thanks for the replies

camber kits are worth it. come in handy when doing a 4 wheel alignment and to prevent abnormal tire wear in the rear. like i said im going to try to get new strut mounts. if that doesnt work then ill get new struts and shocks all round. if that doesnt work well i guess im going to get a lot of bushing kits and suspension kits till i find out what it is.

I got a knocking sound coming from my drivers side. Ive tried almost everything. My coilovers are perfectly fine, strut mounts, axles. The only thing left that I havent tried is bushings and knucklles. Cause I realized the other day that for some apparent reason my bushing is actually cracked. So keep us posted man if you figure out what your problem is. Hopefully mine is fixed this wednesday when I put in the new parts that I bought.

Did you guys read this:
Sticky: If You Have Post-Install Spring Popping Noises..... Read This!
This will answer your quaestions about poping, cliping, clicking and all other noices that come along when things are not done properly...
Just think this way: if before install you had no noise and after install there is a noise. Why whould you think its a tie rod, cv boot or anything else???
You were working on a spring and not anything elso. So if mechanic will tell you to change parts, just tell them to install front stuts properly and free of charge.

DAMN! I just put on my Progress coilovers and i'm experincing the same problem from both sides. It's throwing off my alignment everyting it "pops". My best guess is that the factory bearing isn't sitting right after the car is lowered to the ground. If you figure this problem out, let me know. Seems like this is affecting a lot of people.

It's been three days since i lowered my car. The popping noise is still there, so im gonna wait a few more days to see what happens. I doubt the springs needs to settle for the poping noise to stop.

Well, I dunno if this helps or not. I installed my neuspeed sports last week, and I had a pretty loud popping noise all week. I didn't have time to check until now. My friend installed the springs, shocks, and struts. The loud noise was only coming from the front struts. Both sides were making a lot of noise, only when I turned the wheel. It made these popping sounds only at lower speeds, like pulling out of parking spot, or pulling out of my drive way. The strut and the top mount where aligned properly, cause I helped my friend put on the springs, and he even used tape to mark the spots. So obvisiously it was not because it was not aligned properly.

I checked my front strut bolts, and what do I find. I found out that they were not tight enough. I torqued the three 14mm bolts, and the one 17mm. After that, the loud popping noise went away. I mean I still get some noises, but not loud like before.

Anyways, hope you figure out your problem soon.

After 5 hours waiting for the mechanic .......he repplaced the strut bearing in 25min . The popping noise is gone .No more noise when you turn the wheels. But still have a clank noise when I pass small bumps. What now?Fallout the strut bearing is a sealed bearing and the old one was falling apart.
