almost poo'd myself
so i just finished putting on my new wheels and tires today and decided to take my car for a mountain road romp up towards the big bear area, all goes well at first car feels nice and very grippy ( put some proxies on it )
Im commign thru a long downhill two lane sweeping curve, when all of a sudden i get this god awful vibration it felt like the car was gonna rattle apart. I thought maybe the sticky weights flew off the wheel or something. Anywho i do a quick visual and dont see anything wrong. I have my girl drive the car towards me slowly and i see the Driver side wheel WOBBLING!!!! WTF the damn shop didnt tighten the lugs on that wheel, jacked the car up tightened ALL the the lugs and headed back to the shop to chew some ***,
owner said it was probably my fault driving the car too aggresivly .
are you serious?
whats this world comming to?

You do realize when the brakes get hot the wheel gets hot and the wheel shrinks right? Then once they come loose, they start to wiggle loose because the wheel rocks on and off them.
My lugnuts come loose on the track all the time, you have to retighten them after every session.

yes things do expand when they get hot. so the shop fu---d up and didnt torque the wheels the right way. they should have hand tightened the nuts in a cross pattern then torqued them

OK.... I gotta back up, I guess I left some words out. You drive hard, you slam the brakes, heats the wheel, it expands, pushes on the lugnuts harder than whats torqued on, and you're leaning on them in the corner, the friction starts to open them. Then the wheel cools, shrinks and leaves the space between the nut and the wheel face. it continues to grow as the wheel rocks the nut loose.
Make sense now?
