fuel or spark?
fuel or spark?
1991 Civic DX 1.5 D15B2? 5 sp. (Canada)
Ok, couple weeks ago, check engine light comes on n ECU throws a TPS code, check the TPS n its ok. Car still starts n its almost dark, deal with it tomorrow. Next day CEL/TPS code still present but Im low on gas, stop for gas, start it and CEL/code magically disappear. So I'm thinking...Whoa, this is one special car, it multi tasks for me, the CEL is also a low fuel warning light!! Who knew, right?
Anyway, it had been running a lil rough n I knew something wasn't right but I'm a chick n my guy friends just poo-pooed it off when I said anything.
The other day car dies, won't start, so the plugs, cap, rotor, main relay, fuel filter, timing belt (got the kit not just the belt) and ECU (2x cos first one was wrong n for an A/T, took it back, exchange only for a PM9-A01) all are replaced. Hard to start still, pump primes, spark at the plugs, no codes. Finally starts and idles smooth til I hit the gas pedal, dies. Switch back to old ECU hard to start but get it running, idles smooth n runs great...
...for about ten minutes. I'm almost home so I keep it going working the gas pedal n it dies as I'm pulling in my driveway. Gas gauge was acting funny on way home too.
Compression test was a lil low but not much after timing belt change btw.
I'm tired of trying to figure this out, I have learned a hell of a lot in the process n I'm about to say F**K it give in n let my mechanic throw a V8 in it, I know someone out there has the answer...please, I don't want a V8.
