Eibach ProKit - Like It or Hate it?
Eibach ProKit - Like It or Hate it?
I'm planning on lowering my car.
Currently I have 17" Rims with 215/45/17 and there's about a two finger gap in the back and a 1 1/2 finger gap up front.
I don't want a slam look cuz I'm thinking of getting a Body kit too.
My original plan was to get the Eibach ProKit (1" Drop all around) and keep the stock shocks - The car only has 35,000 miles and I drive about 12,000-15,000 miles/year.
Then I was thinking about getting the Tokico Blue ($400 shipped) with the Prokit.
If I had the time to install the springs myself then I would wait on the shocks and get them whenever the stock shocks blow - I here some people have the Prokit with stock shocks for over a year and some a few months - I guess it also depends on how you drive your vic.
But I'm getting the Springs and AEM Pulleys Kit install for $100 total. So I don't want to spend another $50 buck or so to replace the shocks unless the hold up for say 1-2 years....
I think I should just spend the money and get the Tokico and be done with it - I have the money but I might sell the car in a year or two and if the stock shocks last that long - sweet.
What I don't want is to have the car bounce like crazy down the freeway even though it's a smooth pavement - I see a few slammed vic like that and say why - I see their heads bouncing up/down doing 60 on the freeway - I just dont understand???
Thanks,
Mike

I paid no where near that much for my tokico blue hp's . My stock shocks went out pretty quick with the prokit so i'm happy now with the switch to the blues with my springs.
here is my prokit with 18" I had 17" before but moved on up

I have had the prokit for two yrs. with stock shocks and all is fine. The car does not bounce. Get the spc camber kit though for sure, any brand will work. It looks good, not to much of as drop but it gets rid of the gap between the fender and wheel.

The Prokit is 10-15% stiffer over stock springs according to the Eibach tech who I called a long time ago. They about as close as your going to get to a stock feel and still maintain oem strut longevity. You might get a small amount of bouncing but nothing to outrageous. However remember that our cars are naturally bouncy. Watch our cars go down the highway and you see it'll be more bouncy then others. Those lowered cars you see with the occupants who look like bobble heads usually have too stiff of springs, weak or worn out dampers/shocks, cut springs or some type of combination of these.
You should be fine with the oem struts, even though they suck..

So if you only want a moderate drop - say 1" all around - which springs would you recommend other then the Eibach Pro Kit.
I don't know any other springs with a 1" drop other then getting coilover.
I See a lot of springs rated at 1.3", 1.5", 2.0", 2.5" drop but only Eibach Pro Kit at 1.0"
You think I use coilovers springs with the stock/oem Shocks/Struts?
I can get the Prokit for $195 shipped. Coilovers are a little more but then I have the felxibility of adjusting how much drop I want - I just don't want to go too much and blow my stock/oem shocks/struts too fast.
Thanks,
Mike

do it at once, if you're willing to keep ur Civic for awhile, get shocks along with springs or just get full coil if you can.
You're gonna have to replace ur stock shocks pretty QUICK...remember that (no matter what you're dropped on with rims bigger than 17's)
