Question Firestone charges extra to adjust camber. Normal?

so I took my car in to firestone today to let them do an alignment. they ask wheather or not i have aftermarket camber kit on, so I said yea. Then they said they would need to charge an extra $50 to adjust the camber if i want them to adjust the camber. they said the regular alignment only adjust toe. Is this normal? So total is around $70 + $50 = $120 for an alignment...

I have the lifetime alignment at Firestone. Paid $129 and they always adjust toe/camber and I have the full spc camber kit. No problems. Always get a print up of before and after so you can see what they did, I do cuz I'm dropped about 3 1/2". Done about 3 or 4 alignments in the past year and like I said, never had a problem.

yeah i think they did...
they printed out a sheet from the computer that lists all the measurements... although i have no idea what they mean, it seems like they did adjust the camber, caster, and toe (both front and rear).

nope, just walk in and ask about it, there was a sign on the counter when I got it, I guess it's usually $159 and that good for ALL Firestone locations.

well, they do have the lifetime warranty deal, except they said that doesn't include adjusting camber.

I paid $89.00 for a lifetime alignment, and that includes adjusting toe, camber, and caster, whichever is applicable on the car. I have gotten about 4 alignments this yr. and never had any problems.

The firestones around here are like other places. It is around $60 for them to do a 4 wheel alignment (Toe only), and they charge extra to adjust toe. Now one place told me one time that adjusting the camber on our car with the camber kit would be extra since it is harder to do. Biggest bullshit I have ever heard. Also a place told me it is extra for the camber because some cars it is a pain to adjust the camber, which I do agree.

hmmm....you picked a lousy firestone. there are 3 in my area. the one i go to does but they always say "you'll be back in a few weeks, but we'll do it anyway" and they say that just because they don't like the resposibility of working on anything other than a lowered car. just find the right firestone and you'll be alright.

anyway, i'm lowered 1.5" all around and they have no problems. the only concern is getting the car up onto the machine.

^^ very true, talk to Firestone first, the one closest to my house sucks, ramps are too high/car is too low to fit on rack and they are as*holes anyways. The one I go to kicks *** and they always adjust toe/camber/caster, no extra charge !! Lowered 3.5" and no problems, lifetime.

just drive with your front bumper taken off, then you can go on any ramp.
they tried to used a wooden board and have guys lifting my fenders to get my car onto their ramp, but didn't work. so they just told me to take off my bumper.

FYI thats not a LASER machine! It uses cameras and the flashing LED lights to entensify the images on the target( alignment head attached to the wheel ) That machine is a Hunter aligner, they stole the technology from John Bean Co. a few years back. On that paticular style of aligner it dont matter how low the car sits or if it has a body kit. It only looks down the sides of the car and takes no reference from across the front of the car where a body kit or lowering would get in the way.
