RSX sway bar install
RSX sway bar install
When I install this bar is is necessary to jack up the car. All the installs I searched said to jack up the car. I have access to a built in pit in my neighbour's garage where I could install the bar without jacking the car. I am just not sure if jacking the car up was for actually installing the bar or if it was so you could just get under the car.
Since it is a sway bar I assume it is only loaded when you make a turn so i dont think I would have to jack up the car to install it.
Thanks
JD

You jack up the car so that you have access to your suspension so you can install the sway bar. Not all of us have a neighbor who has a built in pit. If there is a built in pit then there is no need to jack the car up because you will already have access to the under part of the car. And bro if this didnt come off as common sense, maybe you shouldnt be installing a sway bar.

The bar has some preload in it all the time. Its wise to at least lift the wheels up a little bit to get the weight of the car off of them. Makes it a lot easier to get the old one off.
jer2k, also make sure you install the sway bar the right and not upside down (like i did the first time). If you have not done a search on the DIY, i suggest you do and look at the pics to help with the install.

When you post incorrect information, and make people feel dumb with the "if this didn't come off as common sense maybe you shouldn't be installing a sway bar" comment, you're inviting flames. I don't know if you would say what you first posted up there TO ANYONE'S FACE, but if you had the ***** to, 50% of people would have ignored your comment. The other 50% would have knocked you out. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face don't post it on here please. Grow up.
