Hayame no more
As mentioned in my other thread, I got Tein Basics and couldn't be happier. I spoke to Mike at UrbanImport and he was willing to get an RMA for me and refund my Hayames. I take back my original complaint. After all the commotion I caused he's still willing to do this for me. Likelihood of buying from them again: very. But likelihood of getting a product with the Hayame label on it: probably not after this experience. I don't doubt that some ppl are perfectly happy with their Hayames, but I wasn't one of those fortunate ones. They seriously have some quality control issues. As I mentioned before, on the second set of fronts I received, the tie rod arm on the left strut was welded out of place, and the springs that came with them were 10Kg instead of the 8 as listed on their site.

damn I remember when everyone used to rave about the hayames. Everyone was waiting for them to arrive, and when they did everyone bought them. Now everyone is unhappy with them.
Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
I find it is usually best not to be the early adoptor, I prefer to see what peoples experiences are with a new product before I buy it.

when i ordered, we weren't the early adopters, they'd already been reviewed. my guess is Hayame/SPW couldn't keep up with the subsequent orders and got sloppy.

Seems kinda cheap to me, and you know the saying, you get what you pay for.

Parts made in China, assembled in Japan, as far as I was told.
It really is too bad their quality (and thus reputation) slipped, it was a good price, and they weren't all THAT bad. Every thread I read about them giving people a hard time, I feel more and more fortunate my install went OK. They're still going strong for me, still love them, but if I'd waited another month to order them, I'm sure from the reviews on here I would have gone with something else, like saving for Teins or KW's....or maybe those crazy Toda fightex coilovers for the EP/DC5....oooo....3000US.....
Now I wonder, has anyone heard from any RSX owners or EK owners who bought Hayames for THEIR applications? I wonder if the problems with the Hayame coilovers extended to them?

The 01 Civic application has been the only problem we have had any issues with except for a couple of RSX. Other than that we haven't had one problem. All the issues with the 01 Civic coilovers have been resolved in the latest shipment.
