Could I have a defective Hayame
Ok, so it has been a pain in the *** getting my Hayames to ride comfortable. I have it all set up and got ride of all the noises except the rear drivers side. Still makes noises as I drive down the street and It seems like it may even bottom out over hard bumps almost like my stock strut/race springs.
Should I increase preload? or ship it back?
Does anyone know if they will send you a replacement first before you send the old one back?

You're not riding with zero preload on the springs are you? you look like you have no wheel gap but that could just be your wheel/tire size. The only way I was able to get it that low was with no preload but that's really not a great idea.
I'd try adjusting the preload and tightening everything else before trying to get an RMA, it's a hassle.

I hate it when Hayames bottom out. It feels worse than the stock struts bottoming out given the higher spring rate.
Like VNlilMAN said, if you can move the springs after jacking up the car, you need to move the perch (locking nut #1) up until the spring doesn't move. Why? Because you've ran out of shock travel.

I don't think you can get that kind of rear height without removing preload on the rears, which is bad. I suggest adding at least enough preload to keep the springs from moving (thereby increasing height) then see if you can still hear the noise. Make sure all your locknuts are really really tight, and also check the nut at the top of the shock body. Mine were loose, and the last of my noises were remedied by tightening them.

That is an old pic with race springs.
Vnilman you told me to check that out and I did, no movement in the springs.
I currently have a little more that a 1 finger gap in the rear. For the preload I tighten the perch until I could not do it by hand and then took the spanner wrench and made it about 1/4 inch higher/tighter.

They shouldn't bottom out if there the least bit preload.
Sounds defective indeed. I dunno what's up with everyone's shocks all of a sudden. SPW uses Tokicos which are quite reliable, but the shocks seem to be fairing about as much as the rest of the suspension parts (i.e. spring isolators... upper mounts... locking nuts, etc.)
