Question Are generic strut bars crap?

or are they just as good when compared to lets say a neuspeed strut bar? Specifically the upper front strut bar.

It is a 50/50 gamble, I know people who used some saying they are good. While others say that they suck and have too much flex.

I would buy a Neuspeed one, that way you are guarenteed a good product.

I like the Neuspeed bar because it doesn't have any moving joints. I did buy a generic bar for the trunk though.

yeah i'll stick with neuspeed then. It's not like it's that expensive anyways. I can't wait to get the rear sway bar!

I noiced a significant diference when i installed my e-bay bar. I've got the one with a joint on each end, but it still does a good job of stifening the engine bay

The ebay bars I have stiffen up the car a little bit and with the bolts on the joints torqued down pretty tight they don't really flex. I'm sure they are not as good as the Neuspeed or DC sports but at the same time it's better than stock.

These bars will work with intakes too, just not the AEM or AEM style intakes. I have plenty of clearance from the top of my Injen SRI to my strut bar.

I got a generic Tornactive rear upper strut bar before I had my Neuspeed front upper and I think the generic one works pretty well. I torqued mine down pretty tightly, and while this doesn't tell you a lot about the front, I think my rear bar did make a noticeable difference.

generic bars arnt nessisairly bad, it depends on a lot of things.. Like how much stress are you going to put on it? for every day street driving, even Hard street drivng. you probably would never know the difference between a 3 piece (Ebay) bar and a 1 piece welded bar (Neuspeed). BUT, if you were to do autocross, or open track, then you would be placing a Whole lot more stress through the chassis, so bar build quality would become more of an issue.

hmm very interesting point. I just want it for daily or hard normal driving so maybe i'll get the generic. Although it's not as good for showing off.

i noticed slight improvement in handling with the generic ones in the front and rear. and if looks is your main concern, then neuspeed/dc is the way to go... other than that, for street driving, i don't think there will be much of a difference between brand name strut bars vs. generic ones. definitely a big difference in the price factor though.

If you don't race, and you don't do any hard cornering...why are you getting a strut bar?

IMO, and expierence, strut bars only help with HARD turns...like AutoXing.

If you're not gonna race and you're not gonna do any spirited cornering, do don't really NEED a strut bar.

If yer just going for looks...then just make sure it'll clear a CAI/SRI. As far as I know, the DC and Neuspeed bars are the only two that do.

I have the Neuspeed and I'm VERY happy with it. Yes, I AutoX, and yes it helps.

Actually I had a generic bar, and even in everyday driving it helped a lot. I had to take it off so I could install my Injen CAI, and turns were SLOPPY, even just regular everyday driving. When I got my Neuspeed I was a happy happy man.
