Suspension + Fuel Efficiency
Suspension + Fuel Efficiency
Hi. I plan on getting a HX Coupe some time in the far future but like to do my research early.
I'm just wondering if lowering a car can improve fuel efficiency. I want to either get '04 EX alloys or the '01-03 EX alloys or '99-00 Si alloys. I know tire size and correct pressure and other stuff factors in, but suspension wise, Can it help gas mileage or will it hurt?
I want the HX Coupe for the gas mileage but also love the look of a lowered 7th gen with those above mentioned alloy wheels.
Thanks.

actually it does, the lower your car the less air that travels under the car which can slow you down by creating diffrent currents under it...
you become more arrow dynamic when lower

I might make a small difference but not much to tell, maybe a few extra miles. In theory it should make your more aerodynamic like hondaluver said.

The front of the car still has the same surface area. You're knocking off about an inch or 2 of vertical tire area so say, 12-30 sq inches taken out of the frontal area which is many square feet. The air drag may go down an itty bit. Not enough to make a significant difference
Then you're putting heavier wheels on with fatter tires.
And you're taking this a little too far. If you're lowering it, just do it, **** the gas milage.
