Springs on hayames making a binding noise...figured it out
I have only ridden on my hayames about 20-35 miles before i dumped my car on 17's. my springs have been making a binding noise in the front only(usually when i turn) and i checked the springs ten minutes ago and they're all in line. my boy told me that they just need time to settle in cause they are cranked up a lot tighter then before ....cause i just had an alignment before i lowered it more and everything was cool. just wondering if anyone can agree with his theory cause thats the only thing that makes sense.

1. Most Important, ALWAYS overlooked, Check to make sure you INDEXED your front struts correctly.
2. Tierod, Many people destoy them during install, unless you did it right and used a tie-rod seperator.
3. Spring Not aligned on perch correctly
4. Bolts under hood are not tourqed to specs
5. Did you reinstall your top mount bearing correctly?
Check in this order and you should solved your problem

WTF? He is WRONG! just curious, what make you think that when they settle the noise goes away? Truth of the matter is as time goes on, most of the time the noise will increase. This has been talked about so MANY time. Clicking, noises, whatever you have is cause by IMPROPER INSTALLATION. One of these things is wrong with your car.

yo guys....my fu*king hayames are still making that binding noise...im wondering if my springs dont have enough load to them??, i did bottom out the strut housing so im only really adjusting the height of the spring...vin, i tightened that locknut on both sides because to my surprise one was loose(good call)...but really, when i first get into the car and turn the wheel without rolling they're binding like a bitch and they also do it a lot when i first get the car rollin and turn, its really f*cking embarassing especially when it does it at a show and its been like more than 500 miles with them on??.....i dont want to load them more cause i dont want the ride height that tall but i need that sound to go away......you guys with the eibachs...i jusy had sportlines on b4 the coilovers and the only time that mine made that noise was when the top of the strut housing(i think thats what its called but im not sure) shifted and came out of place after a huge bump or something, u have to take the whole assembly out and knock in back into place. i tried using a prybar to do it but the whole thing (strut/spring assembly) had to come out
any good advice would help, especially if someone has or had these coilovers....i checked the front springs when i tightened that third locknut that time and they are all inline where they should be so i know that that isnt the prob

it wasnt the 3rd locknut? are you sure?
try this.. loosen the 3rd locknut and drop the car down. see if it makes any noises. If t doesnt the 3rd locknut wasnt tight enough

this is what i think might be the problem...where the spring sits on the solid platform and the platform that you tighten the spring up to i think need to be lubed...i know for sure that the locknuts are tight so im pretty sure that this is the problem...my cuz said to lube up both ends of the spring and the platforms that it sits on and tightens to. then i know the binding will go away cause the binding noise is he spring moving on that platform...if its lubed, im positive that thnoise will go away....what do u think?

ok guys i figured it out....i jacked up the civic and took the wheels off....to my surprise the left third locknut (that tightens to the housing) was real loose again. the other side also loosened up a bit. im not a weak kid and i tightened the **** out of those both times before this. so i tightened them up and rubbed vasoline in between where the spring sits on both of those platforms and dropped the car back down. my noise is gone...virtually all of it, i think it made one little noise or two........and i figured this out....if u turn your wheel alot while the car is standing still and not in motion, it puts a lot of stress on the coilover to turn all that extra rubber(if u have wider tires) and all the other **** which probably causes that third locknut to loosen up. maybe some of you already knew that but o well.
I remember that when I first had my Hayame's on, the 3rd locking nut would come loose if you don't tighten it enough. If it's loose, it becomes difficult and uncomfortable to steer. Eventually, after many attempts it stopped coming loose. On the other hand, I never had any noise from that occuring. Glad you fixed it.
