Buying used Konis, have question.
I'm looking at buying a set of use Konis from someone and I have a question. He civic is a 01 and mines a 03. Both EX coupes. I know that the 01s use 50 MM and the 03s use 55 MM, but the struts are assembled in the 01 housings. Will they fit on my 03? All I will have to use is the upper strut housing from my 03. Anyone know? I want to buy this like tonight. Thanks.

Well the only problem I see is the "camber bolts" maybe a different size...
I believe 01-02 uses 14mm bolts while 03-04 uses 16mm ones(well its possible some 03s still use 14mm)
You would have to drill the two holes on the strut bigger in order for it to fit.

question..... Hes taking out his konis and swaping them with what? Its not like He can put his stock struts back together, so why dont you just take his whole 01 front strut asembly and use that? then you would have the konis in their proper housing and have your stock struts around for backup if needed.

Zzyzx, i think your confused(either that or i am)...
I think Jodster's getting the koni's along with that guys 01 housing. He's just not getting the uppermount. Which shouldnt be a problem cause he can just use his 03 uppermounts.

^^^^^^^^^Yes, the Konis are still in the 01 strut housing. All I have to use is my 03 upper housing. I just didn't know if it would be a problem due to the 01s needing the 50 MM and the 03s needing the 55 MM. But I'm getting the strut assemblied in the housing. So its going to be an easy swap.

I didnt even know the 01s and 03s used different ones but i'm 95% sure on this...
reason why 01s use 50mm is cause their housing are smaller than 03s. But ya since your using 01 koni's in 01 struts your fine. only problem is does the 01 struts fit the 03 model perfectly fine. Answer as far as i know is NO. again, only difference being the size of the lower holes

have no clue... it seems easy and people say its easy but honestly, i have no clue how i would do it... It would have to be directly in the center cause if its off, the bolts arent going to line up right.
Cause you know how you insert a bit and you drill and it starts cutting 1 side faster than the other and then it gets messed up... you would think it cuts everything evenly but ya sometimes it doesnt work out that way
