Fitting a 55mm shock

Anyone know's if I could fit a 55mm koni shock into a 2001 EM civic strut housing by cutting the shock at a lower position ? As I have read in the forum about being careful not to cut the shock housing too low or the 50mm koni will be lose. Will the larger diameter of the 2001 strut housing at the lowest possible point be able to house the 55mm shock safely ?

Not sure what you mean, but the strut housing is the same diameter the whole length, in other words it doesnt taper off or become smaller at either end.
