Progress Sway Bar Problem - Need Help - pics
My rear Progress sway bar doesn't seem to be installed correctly. I'm hearing some knocking and it's obvious it's the sway bar since you can tell where the metal is hitting metal. Take a look at the pics and tell me what I need to do.
Heh, when i was putting my progress bar in i did it the same way and snapped my driver's side endlink. It's on upside down man... try flipping it and you'll have plenty of room for the suspension to travel, and you'll get rid of that nasty sound.
oh yeah...just another note, when you flip it ( which you definitely need to do), make sure its in the lowest possible position with respect to the tie bar (aka, the 4 bolts that attach to the 2 brakets on the tie bar are at the lowest point). THis way, the bar won't hit your exhaust...i've had that problem, and i had to get a section of my exhaust rebent.

Yeah, um... The way it's installed puts a lot of stress on the endlinks. Those are the ones I make BTW. Kinda a testament to how strong they are.
Also, see the things welded on to the sway bar that go on either side of the sway bar bushings? They're supposed to be right up against the bushings. If the rear sway bar is able to slide back and forth, then you need some spacers to stiffen' things up.

Thanks Grey....I see what you mean. What type spacers do I need? Would I be better off in the long run to go ahead and replace the bushings? I guess I'm asking why is there a space...from the install or the bushing is just not big enough to begin with?

The bushings are okay. New ones won't help. I have the ones from Energy Suspension, but they're the same size as the ones that come with the Progress sway bars. As for the spacers... You can use some washers. Ones that are wide like that piece of metal that's welded on would be good. Oh, wait... ****. How the hell are you going to put it on? Hmm... Okay. Maybe a "locking ring" from Mcmaster.com? Yeah, type in those keywords and find one with an inside diameter that's smaller than the outside diameter of the sway bar. That'll work. Hopefully they have ones that are thin enough to fit in that space. It kinda sucks that the sway bar doesn't fit in there perfectly. Hmm... Maybe another solution exists? Maybe you could adjust the sway bar bushing holders to move the sway bar bushings outward a little more? Hell if I know. I'de have to inspect it first-hand to see what's up. I hope this helps a little.

Since it is only that one side that is off a little, do you think the bar would actually move any since the other side is flush?
By the way, the mechanics at the Honda dealership were very impressed with the endlinks.
