Rep Power: 0 I was waiting (too long) for AGX's or Illumina's to come out because I didn't want to cut apart my front struts.
But Tokico and KYB keep feeding us the same BS everytime we call "we don't know" "no definite date yet" "just a few more weeks / months" "it's been pushed back to ...".
Enough already. I got fed up of the BS and terrible ride so I decided to get KONI's. But instead of cutting my struts I got some blown front struts for free from the Honda dealer and modified those instead. When I went for my install the front struts were already all assembled and ready to put on the car. No messing around

Rep Power: 0 I too am a little annoyed by the broken promises from these manufacturers. When I bought the car last summer, I knew right away the OEM shocks were junk (I still don't understand how Honda could have f-cked up the rear valving so badly). Back then the release date was "end of summer", then it became "end of December", then end of February. In hindsight, I should have bought the Konis 8 months ago and be done with it. The thing that gets me is people in other markets are already getting KYB front struts for their 01+ Civic, so how long do we have to wait before they import them into NA?
Btw is the GR-2 really available here? Don't kid yourself, the GR-2 is better than any OEM shocks Honda will ever put on their cars. Much firmer and crisper response, much better construction. If you're a mechanic and you replace a customer's OEM shocks with the GR-2 under the mistaken belief that it is a direct OEM replacement, I guarantee you the customer will come back in two weeks screaming about the firm ride and the spilled coffee.
You'll need the AGX if you use lowering springs though.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah well I have been holding my breath forever for some better shocks to come out.
I have been waiting for the Tokico's, the KYB's and now I hear that Sprint has an appliction listed and the release date is TBA.
I hope they have something out soon, the rest of the markets are missing the boat on this and Koni is going to clean up.

has anyone heard more details about this. I'm thinking about emailing them and asking (begging) them when theyre going to get these things out. I'm really looking forward to these shocks coming out.

Rep Power: 0 i was originally gonna get teins, but in light of this possible new release, if they're drastically cheaper then tokikos it is. what would be a good spring to mate with these? i was thinking along the line of neuspeeds. yes? no? anyways, hurry up and release them already(shake fist)

Rep Power: 0 im having problems with my rear struts bottoming out. i am definatly not going to spend a grand on some teins, and dont really feel like paying that much for some konis when its only like have a strut. the probelm with tho oem ones is not the actual response, its the fact that the strut housing is just too damn tall, the old model civics you could drop them like 3 inches and have plenty of lee way. these you got to be carfull not too go over a big bump stock. you can hear mine bottom out when you sit in the car too hard. lol so im definatly gonna be getting me some new struts the first possible sign of progress.

Rep Power: 0 lol. so what your sayin is we wont be seeing new struts any time soon. i was thinking of modifying the stock struts and cutting them down a little or maybe rasing the coilover up as much as possible and welding some kind of brace a little lower so the whole strut sits lower. but im just over analizing **** that i should just leave alone.
