The Illumina shocks are 5 position adjustable......I'm sure they will be adjustable in the same manner...but better than Konis....I donno! But if they come with the full kit and not just inserts.
Tokico is a good company and I think they will be WAY better than stock. They have been in the business of manufacturing shock absorbers and brake hydraulics for over 50 years. Plus you will not have to cut the strut housing.
Between the two I think it is a matter of preference. Just my .02

Depends on the valving, and what you are looking for in a shock.
My take on the whole subject....
Tokicos are Street perfromance shocks, and will probably work well with just about any spring (I dont konw about ride height)
Konis Are More tuned for High performance and Race applications, so they will have higher valving then the Tokicos, equaling better performance but probably a slightly rougher ride.
any coilover replacement (Spring and shock) is probably tuned to work together, or at least the spring rate that is pared with the shock is with in the shocks specs. so it could be assumed that a full replacement would if nothing else Last longer becasus the spring isnt over powering the shock.
However, it is entirly possible to have a Shock and spring set up (Non replacement) to perform as well if not better then a Full replacement coilover, you just need to pick the right spring and have the shock valved to work with it (Koni will Revalve their Yellow shocks). Its my understanding that Koni Yellows as they come from the factory are good till about 500-550 Lbs/in, and a Revalved to the max Koni can hold up to 700 LBS/In. I dont know what Tokicos are designed to handle, nor do I know if Tokico will revalved the Illuminas.

I dont know what everyones problem is. I hav konis. They ride great and they arent too hard to install as long as u hav an experienced mechanic do it for u. U hav to deal with what u got.

I read that KYB or Tokico(I forget which one) is only good for about a 1.5" drop. Anything more and you either void the warranty risk the chance of the shock failing. Whereas Koni's are better valved to handled a lower drop and also higher spring rates.

Well, I've also been waiting for them for like 1.5 years, but lets hope that this time its for real. Many times people have called and reported that this and that came out of the horse's mouth, but the shocks never come : (

Sorry.
