How far can I (should I) drop the car

Here is the pic. The new wheels are on and I have not driven the car to settle the suspension, but it has set idle for about 20 hours. How far can I drop it without running into problems? I am running 215/40-18 tires. I would like to get a set of progress springs that go 1.8 front and 2.0 rear, but dont know if that will put me too low? Any opinions are greatly appreciated since I know that you guys are the experts. Thanks

confusing post there buddy. but as far as what you're asking 1.8 front and 2.0 drop with the tire size you mention will prob give you like a 2 finger gap all around.

Yeah I was in a hurry and it was about 5am this morning. Your answer was what I was looking for though. I just meant to say that I am not sure if the suspension has had time to settle since I dont know how long it takes for the car to get back to stock height on OEM springs after you have had it jacked up? I know the vette takes quite a while, but I have upgraded Z51 suspension so the springs are probably quite a bit bigger. Thanks

um progress springs will give you more like a 2.5 inch gap all around. When I had progress on my stock steelies almost half of the back tire was tucked and my fron tire was hitting the fender wall. Also I had bad camber and that was with stock steelies. If you get them you would have to roll your fenders I would assume. Also they blew my shocks really fast and shocks are expensive to replace because there is only one brand out there. Just my 2 cents. Any questions just pm me

ok 215/40/18" tires will ahve apprx 3-3.5 finger gap once settled.(our springs settle wuick go
take her around soem curves really fast and u'll settle em out (unlike the vette).. drop eibach
prokit 1.0 driop perfect ride not too low but just enuff for some cars gives it that oem height
w/o all the gap in the wells, then their eibach sportline thats like 1.3" all around which is a lil
lower (eibach is nice if u dont want to change out ur shocks/struts right away ive had mine on
for like 3 months w/ no problems rides soo nice (its got a lil comfort ring ))if u drop on
neuspeed sports you'll have nice ride, nice hight not dropped on its nuts but still appealing the next level is goldlines.
their like 2.0 give or take .2 thei kinda rough riding i thinkthat'l give u like no fingers in rear and like 1-1.5 in front (our rear wheel wells are lower to ground then
the front.. next is neuspeed race.. now i hate coupe's personally but this is the most attractive drop ive ever seen on a coupe gives it that stance that makes u wanna say damn... with ur wheels it should work(from the pic looks like u have khumo's(they run kinda thick on the 40 series compard to like pirelli.. u might tuck .5 finger in rear (their nice and stiff so it wont rub on bumps) then u'll have like .5 finger up front if any finger at all. u will def need a set of new struts/shocks for these i recommend konis yellows.(the rears kinda scare me with their tiny hole for the bolt but hey they should be safe... i havent driven in any cars that have other shocks than oem or koni.. so i cnat help there...plan to go any lower.... GET ground control coilovers or like some dropzone N-1 true coilovers (if u wanan egt dropzone true coilovers(true meaing full replacement of everything )please contact me and i can hook u up.. me personally i love german suspension so i ordered B&G for my car and ima run a 1.9" drop front and lieka 1.8" rear (215/35/19)tucking all around.

lol, what can i say ima wheel ***** and ive had to deal with just about every combination on my car and know alot of other people w/ their combinations.. like i said eibach prokit wont be slammed but hey u wont have to change out ur shocks for at least a year or so. also the ride is very nice. not too firm but nice and.....mercedes like.. the comfort ring sure does help... one last thing when u put fronts on put them so the writing is upsidedown*** and rears only go on one way then jack up both sides of front so that the tires are just off the ground then reach above ur tire and slide the comfort ring down as far as u can push it. once u lower ur car and drive a round neighbor hood taking turns at 80 go home look in fender and u should see that 1/2 of the comfort ring is firmly lodged between coils of the spring and the other half is touching 1 coil but if u wer to hit a bump it would take som for the force.idk how esle to say it.(u dont wnat ring in middle of open coils and u dont want it stuck between 2 coils that are alwasy together. pm me if u have questions. ttyl

glad to help,
riley
