struts II
hey!!
my thread got locked.
i'm sorry i didn't make myself clear.....
i DID a search in the FAQ, i know about the ONE strut that fits. that FAQ is OLD!!!!!!
i figure that there were more out there than the ONE strut that fits. (actually 2)
i wanted to know if the RSX struts fit the civic, or if there were any others.
like i said, i FOUND others, but they are inconsistant years of fitability. (is that a word?)
i was asking what fits? can i buy struts for a 95 and have them fit? like i said, i found them that fit 92-04, and i wanted to know if the assembly and mounting was the same throughout the years?
(moderator)i've been searching all morning, so please don't lock my thread untill i get some answers for my questions, please.
thank you for your help.

I told you what ones fit.....if you want factory struts, just get new civic ones, not much difference between ours and the RSX or Si ones. They should fit but no need for them. No other years shocks will fit. If it doesn't say for the 7thgen civic then they don't fit. The only ones you can get safely right now are the Konis! i know of no one that has the GR-2's. The FAQ is not old, it was just updated. No one makes shocks for our car yet. Tokico and KYB are working on it! I am glad you searched, but there aren't many shocks out yet. Plain and simple. If you want performance then you have to get konis, if you want factory then just get new honda ones, if you want better than oem but no performance then get the Gr-2's. That is it. I will leave this open for a little while, but there really ins't more information on this subject that we haven't said already.

anything that says 94-01 or 94-02 are full of crap. You shouldn't find any more for the RSX than the Koni's. they share the same chassis so everything is the same for them and the Si. You might find some Moton ones but those are $1400 a corner.

no Acura RSX, Honda civic Si, and honda civic all share the same chassis. the hatchback is the Si and has more horsepower.

in terms of chassis, yes. There are some small differences like tie rod bolts, front sway bars, and other things but most suspension parts can be used on all 3.

Basically if it fits an RSX it probably will fit a civic.... there are some parts that cant be used, but that is because of how the engine is mounted inthe RSX and Si vs the EX and others.. (Like the Front anti-roll bar on the RSX/Si)
For shocks, Konis are good. the Yellows are good to about 450-500 LB/in springs, and Koni will revalve the shocks for higher rates if needed. From what I've read about them, even the Valved to the max Koni Yellow isnt much good past 700 LB/in. Many of the top drivers in SCCA Solo 2 events run Koni Yellows.

not really cause most products that are out for their cars are out for ours. most cause there are those few that arent out for ours...
and ya they still require slight mods like new tie rod ends. making the holes bigger. shaving things here and there...
reason why the 94-01 are bs... the 7thgens use a different suspension setup that those so they are much different. we use mcpherson struts opposed to double wishbone back then.

To use RSX shocks you need new tie rod ends.
It appears that EP3 struts can be used straight up....
The Mugen Sport Kit ($1000, springs and shocks, 0 adjustment)
Spoon Fixed Dampers ($950, no adjustment)
Spoon Adjustables ($2750, Height and damper adjustable, no springs)
and the Mugen/Moton ($4200, height and damper adjustable with remote reservoirs)
are presumably usable if you got the cash.

i'll probibly go with the koni yellows. i don't need anything that extreme.(1000-4000 per corner or set? it doesn't matter though)
where do you think is the best deal?
