Buying Used Konis?
What do you think I should do....guy selling used Konis on the For Sale thread for cheap. Said he used them for Spring and Summer only and they are fine. I'm tempted cuz' he's selling them already modified to the strut housing and I can save my stock struts for later use or whatever, if I ever want to sell the car. BUT I'm worried about them blowing and not getting the lifetime warranty. He says he lost the original receipt but can get a new receipt from a shop which Koni requires to stay true to the warranty. I don't want to get screwed, but I also can't afford to buy new. Do you think his Konis are still ok? (Koni claims they'll last the life of a car) AND....if he got a receipt would Koni still honor it? Opinions please!

I am sure they ok, but you may or may not get the warrenty without the receipt. also, some konis have problem with the perch breaking unless it is welded on. I personally would be wary of them, but that is me. I wouldn't buy konis to begin with..

I always thought that springs gave a better ride then coil-overs.. but maybe that depends on which brands are being compared.
I dont know if the Koni Yellows are considered their street version(I assume they are), but according to www.koni-na.com the warranty is for the orginal purchaser. If the reciept says it was paid by cash and has no name tied to it, then you probably could get away with transferring the warranty to yourself.
This would probably be the only way I would consider buying used Koni's... FWIW

some people with full coilover setups sell their stock shocks.. so you can buy a set of stock front shocks, install the koni's on those and have no downtime on your ride... and you get to keep your own stock shocks
