Hi,

Trying to remove my swaybar right now and have no idea how to get the endlinks off...the nut just spins with the bolt...

I did search but didn't come up with anything. Please help!

Stick an allen wrench in the middle, then you'll have to use an open end or box wrench to turn the nut off. WD-40 or Liquid Wrench also helps the cause.

Thanks guys...I might have sat there for hours trying to figure that one out!

It took some elbow grease (and half a can of liquid wrench...wheeee) but I finally have my RSX swaybar on. It feels really good - great improvement in steering response!

Hey Shu, do you have any more noise in your rear suspension with your new rear sway on? Mine is making a horrible rattle-like noise when going over speedbumps (even nice and slow) or takin a quick turn. I haven't had time to jack my ride up yet (rain! boo-urns). I'm gonna grease my bushings (but they're stock rubber!!!) and check my endlinks (thankfully still intact) tonight.

If it rattles, then it maybe your sway bar hitting against your aftermarket exhaust.

That's funny you ask, Telly... 'cause I do! I'm 99% sure in my case it's not the bushings...I think the increased diameter is causing it to hit my muffler piping setup. Plus, I have Neuspeed Sport springs, so this whole combination is making things quite tight down there.

I get the noise when I'm idling at a redlight, but it goes away when I start moving...??? WTF??

I plan to remount my muffler lower soon, so hopefully that'll take care of things...but please let me know if you find out anything else that might be causing this nasty sound.

Haha...I was saying Boo-urns...

Hmmm...I'm temporarily gonna put a piece of rubber against any part of the sway bar that would touch the muffler and see if that helps the sitch. I'll let you know.

****...that really bites man...

At least you know the cause of the noise now! Do you know what made it break?

What are you going to do? The endlink's a pretty small piece, so you could get another from Honda...but I heard about an aftermarket kit by someone on this site (Grey, I think)...wonder if this one's better/stronger?

Either way, g'luck fixing the link, dude...

what size sway bar did you get? hondaluver broke his with the progress bar from running his car a little too hard. Grey's endlinks should be a big improvment.

I assume I won't have the same problem with the RSX bar? I know the Progress bar is quite beefy - how exactly would it compare in terms of stress it puts on the endlinks?

Would you recommend getting the better endlinks regardless? Like, is there any performance advantage to Grey's kit other than strength?

Did I ask enough questions?

Yeah, I have a feelin sumthin is up wit dis sway bar - I'm real suspicious about its origins, cos its a little too close to other bolt heads too...I'm takin it out and gettin an OEM RSX bar brand spankin...
Yeah I got a set of endlinks from the local Honda dealer for $50CDN + tax, so that oughta hold me. I figure I'll deal with the rattle for a few more days till I get the RSX one or if i can't take it any longer I'll jus swap back to the OEM sway bar. Blah, handling is still great, just that rattle really pisses me off!!! Plus I don't think I should be pushin my baby around with a busted endlink, lawd knows what it's doin to my bushings (although I jus checked the brackets and they're aight for now).

What sway bar is that? Just so I know to stay away from it.

Yeah the RSX sway is the ****...fits perfect of course, and really stiffens up the rear end.

But why buy new? Kind of a waste, IMO...since it's really a part that won't be "worn out" if you get a used one. Just my 2 cents...

It's some kind of Neuspeed bar, but I don't know where it came from. Anyhoo, I got a line on a 1-year-old OEM RSX that I'm pickin up tonite. I may have this resolved quicker than expected.

FFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK KKKK!!!!!! I stripped the 5mm on the passenger's side endlink while trying to remove it, as BOTH endlinks were finally snapped as of last night. I was like CRAP!!! What do I do?!?! The damn thing kept spinning and I couldn't get it out! I had loosened the nut about halfway but again the threads were all rustified so I couldn't get any further with the stripped nut. I called my friend who had borrowed my Dremel - I was gonna put the diamond cutting wheel on and try to get BEHIND the endlink and cut it off, but then he called me back saying the diamond wheel was really dull...he'd be over with it anyway. FACK again. I abandoned that idea and contemplated taking the car into a shop to have this done up. Then I remembered that I am ghetto and have no money, which is why I did this by myself in the first place.
Sooooo here I am, broke, angry, barefoot, two gashes in my head and countless pieces of skin ripped from my arms, a brown shirt (that was white when I started) and a dirty dirty pair of jeans, swearing and hitting stuff...out of frustration I grabbed a pair of pliers and ripped the broken metal arm off the balljoint that connected the endlink to the lower arm on the driver's side (which would be more headaches later - read on for that)...BINGO, a metal balljoint was exposed!!!! An inkling of a possibility of the beginning of the formation of an idea ran through my bleeding head. I ran inside and grabbed a steak knife and a vise grip. I used the knife to cut through the plastic piece around the balljoint on the PASSENGER side (the metal part had already been ripped off by the nasty sway bar), took the vise grip, set it as tight as I could while still being able to lock it against the ball, and jammed it in there. I was then able to turn the nut while the ball joint was secured by the vise grip, and best of all, now I had TWO hands to use on the wrench!!! That passenger side one came off about 3 minutes later, to my bemusement.
Now on to the drivers side. I used the same technique, locking the exposed balljoint with the vise grip, but because of the positioning I had myself in, I had less leverage - I'm right-handed and for some reason I was able to move myself into a better position under the passenger side. With this side, my primary hand would have been my lefty, so I had to jimmy rig myself some kind of pulling mechanism with a gardeing glove; trust me, not pretty. SO now here I am, having applied several BILLION sprays of Liquid Wrench, and the bloody thing wasn't moving. At this point my friend arrived and coaxed me through it.by yelling slogans a la Rainier Wolfcastle (max the burn, go past the max, and so forth). My mom came up the driveway while he was yelling this and I was roaring at the top of my lungs like I was benchpressing a bus. This nut took an hour, no joke. My mom came back out to bring us some drinks as I was almost done removing the nut to hear me screaming "Who's your daddy!!! Who's your daddy!!!!" while kicking the rear tire from under the car while my buddy shouted his approval. It was a very sitcom moment, you know, where she quietly leaves the room with a scared and puzzled look on her face.
Anyhoo, once that was done, I was able to reuse the old nuts (all 4) and installed the new endlinks without incident. I then greased the 19mm bushings and bolted the bar back on and took it for a test drive. No noises, very good cornering. I looked under the car this morning after pulling into work, and they were still intact. Can't wait for Grey's custom ones though...

LOL...HOLY SHIAT!! And I thought *I* had a hard time removing the damned endlink!! ROTF, at least you have a fricken hilarious story to tell now! Did the Wolfcastle slogans actually help you "master your ***"?

But it was all worth it right? It really is such a good mod...it's just a pity that the endlink bolts rust up so easy and are in most cases a total biotch to take off Honda should have put some kind of cover or something on there maybe...

So...you ARE getting Grey's endlink kit, right? I think that's a very good idea so that you'll never have to go through all that ever again.

Actually, depending on the price (I am also pretty ghetto) and whether or not you already ordered, maybe I want in on that sweet action as well...so if we get 2 (or more - GTA GB anyone?) we can save shipping costs...Ima do a search and find out the $ right now.

Count yourself lucky, you only had to remove 2 endlink nuts. I had FOUR nuts to take car of this time, not to mention the 2 I had to do when I first installed that incorrect sway bar.
I already prepaid for my new endlinks I don't think any kind of GB will beat what I paid unless he starts some kind of factory. pm him asap and shoot him some paypal loot.
And yes, I HAVE mastered my ***. My arms are ridiculously sore this morning and I found a gash on my stomach just a few minutes ago - must have been from when the wrench slipped. I look like I was in a bar brawl last night, what with my torn-up knuckles and the cut above my temple.
All in all, worth the trouble for this mod. Next time I will simply record people shouting slogans and play it while I work on putting the endlinks on.

damn that hella sux. my endlink was even worse...it broke with the OEM sway bar. i had no idea how taht happened...it's pretty sad if u ask me. i dont even drive my car hard or anything. maybe it was my heavy *** trunk. oh well...i pre-ordered grey's endlinks already and will be getting the neuspeed sway bar with support frame. i know it's expensive but it just looks so sturdy rather than having a tie bar down there.
