Please Help - Endlink Removal!
My car makes noise when I make hard left turns, I ended up figuring our that it was my catback hiting the sway bar. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this? I was thinking about wraping a piece of rubber around where it touches. Any ideas?

Yeah, mine still does this as well. I have an axel back only, so I was thinking of takin the thing off and reworking my piping to fit better around the bar.
But please keep me updated if you come up with any other simpler solution. Telly mentioned the rubber thing but didn't try it...I get the feeling that with all the heat from the exhaust system, rubber would melt. Is there a better material for doing this??

i installed the rsx rear sway bar while i installed my custom midpipe w/magnaflow exhaust...
so i dunno..i dont hear anything and have no problems whatsoever... and im using the honda stock endlinks.. have no problems with those either.
shu or telly... im in the d/t east toronto area.. if you want to take a look at my midpipe or exhaust... and see what's different from mine compared to yours... just let me know.
'cause i never hear rattling in the rear.... i only hear it in the front 'cause i know my injen sri is hitting my hood.

I have the OBX catback and had to let it sit a little lower than where the hangers are because it was vibrating under the passenger side of the car and on rear bumper. There is a few inches between the exhaust and the sway bar, I guess that stuff must move and flex quite a bit when you corner hard.

I really just want to find a quick fix like a putting a piece of material right there to deaden the sound, but have no idea what I could use that wouldn't melt. Worse comes to worst tho, I'll just take off the muffler and rework the piping to fit better (prolly next spring).

Dude, put some rubber shiat on the sway, as opposed to the exhaust. That way at least it's not DIRECTLY exposed to hot metal at all times. If you're so inclined, get some silicone tubing (like what some guys use to replace their engine bay hoses for dressup) and slip that over the part of the swaybar that contacts the exhaust. I'm sure the silicone will stand up to the heat a little better than just regular rubber stuff.
I have some leftover rad hose around here that I used to keep my intake pipe from rubbing against my frame up front...if I can find it I'm gonna put it on my sway and let you know how it works out. Thing is, I can't hear any bumps or rattles - I've been driving nice and slow lately, I've been a lil ol lady behind the wheel as of late, still haven't fully recovered from the trauma of that endlink install...

Does ur chick have any hot friends that need to have half-filipino babies? Cos if they do....they can call me.
I think maybe you should get something a LITTLE wider than 19mm - otherwise it'll be a horrible b1tchmonkey to put on.

LOL...k dude, lemme ask around! They don't need to be single right? Just hot is good enough?! LOL...I'll post pics when I have some time...
Anyway, yeah, I'll get some 20 or 21 mm hose then...maybe they have some that has a higher heat rating...that would be perfect.

OH YA.... for the noise, make sure the rear sway bar aint slighty bent.
even though there's are ways around it like you guys are discussing.. i still dont see how its hitting your muffler.
'cause from a 17mm bar to 19mm bar.. its aint much of a difference... on position wise.
performance wise.. yes, there's a difference
'cause if the exhaust/midpipe is hitting your 19mm rear sway bar.. and you can notice it by the scratches/damages from the exhaust on the bar....... it should of been hitting your 17mm sway bar as well..
just an opinion 'cause you're the only two that i've heard from caneast that actually have this problem.
and make sure you didnt put it the wrg way...
'cause the bar is originally meant to bend around the midpipe....
my meaningless 2cents.

Not that meaningless actually...kind of embarassing, but when I originally installed it, I put the bar in upside down!! I tested it out and was like WTF?? There was no suspension travel (the bar was sitting on the control arms) and the ride height at the back was like 2 inches higher...lol...
But yeah, when I took off the 15mm stock bar, I did notice scratches on it in the same place it's hitting right now. I know why this has happenned too - it's cuz I got my exhaust hacked together before I dropped my car. It had about an inch of clearance before, but now with my Neuspeed Sports, it's almost touching. The 19mm bar just aggravated things.

heehee.... don't feel bad Shu, I did the exact same thing when installing the sway..... lowered the car on the ground backed out of my driveway, took a look, thought to myself "WTF?!?!?!", then the whole street probably heard me cursing as i drove back in, raised the car, and flipped the sway over... heehee.....
i'm actually looking into getting grey's endlinks too.. the hotchkins are too friggin expensive and not that much better in my opinion.
i push my car quite hard, so i figured i might as well swap to beefier endlinks b4 something happens (touch wood)....

Azn Saint: I have Neuspeed sports which is 1.75"F / 1.5"R...why?
I find that's a good drop - looks and rides much better than stock, but not so ridiculously low that you have to worry about scraping everything.
And from what I understand 2k2+ coupe = 17mm swaybar but 2k1 = 15mm
SedanBoy: LOL...glad to see I'm not the only one to do that! But you didn't actually try driving it like that did you? I did. So I actually win for being more stupider!
Y'know what tho...because there was no suspension travel, the tail end gave out like a MF around turns...I think I actually "drifted" a left turn when testing out my improper sway bar...

Yuppers, have a 2001 Si...you should see the 15mm swaybar, it looks so weak and sad. My bud who assisted me in taking it out was like "what's the point of this piece of spaghetti on your car?" LOL
RSX sway =
BTW, what did you mean when you said to make sure the bar isn't slightly bent? Like, how can you tell if it is? I got it used so I really don't know if it's in perfect condition...

nope, i backed out of my driveway, heard clink clink clink..... took a look, the car was actually higher on the driver side.... kneeled down, saw the sway on the lca, then my cursing began... heehee......
i'm really happy with the rsx sway, but i'm just thinking how the progress front and rear package would be.. heehee.....
i always thought the oem rear was a 12mm sway? eitherway, i just know it looks like string..... but then again, the stock endlinks look like a thin metal wire... heehee....
if it's bent, you'll know cuz installing it would be a biatch..... nothing would line up properly.. but i doubt it would have any effect if it's a bit bent ..... i couldn't find a used one back then and i was just eager to get one so i ordered it from acura instead..

Yeah, when I saw the stock endlinks, I really wondered how the heck they could hold up to that much pressure...it almost SEEMED as tho I could snap them with my hands! Well, maybe not, but they must be made out of some kind of insanely strong metal?
You got urs from Acura? Just curious, how much did that run you? Must have been *chingching*
Anyway, have another Q...anyone have the polyurethane bushings for the 19mm? Are they worth it? How much were they and where did you get them?

like sedan boy said.. if its bent.. it'll be like a bitch to install it.
mine went right it..
as for the endlinks.. i dunno, mine seems okay.. i have a 2002lx coupe... even though i havent seen other endlinks.. liek the size and all.. but im pretty happy with mine.
and as for the 17mm stock sway bar.. that looked like a minime compared to the 19mm. hhaa.
last i heard.. they ran for like 150brand new at acura dealerships
close to 200.. i dont quite remember.. i asked almost a year ago.
and if you're still having trouble with the exhaust.. you can always have a custom midpipe... to go around the sway bar.
thats if you dont have an exhaust yet...

i paid something like 180 for the sway, bushings, and rsx brackets from acura.....
as for the exhaust, like AznSaint said, get a new pipe bent if it's constantly hitting..... what diameter piping you have for the axelback right now?.....

Wow, that's a lot for a 19mm sway without even a tiebar or poly bushings!
Yeah, I'll prolly get the midpipe done properly next spring...for now, I'm going to try the silicone hosing thing Telly came up with. The job I did on my muffler was pretty ****...the guy just hacked off my OEM muffler and made this big meatball of a weld to the used OBX I got free. It actually has fallen off once already...luckily the same guy redid it for free. I've learned my lesson - no more cheapie mods for me...do it right the first time is now my motto!

Just an update...
I went this aft to C.Tire and got 19mm heater hosing (the biggest they had). I cut off a piece long enough to cover part of my swaybar and slit it lengthwise down the middle, then slapped that on my sway where it was hitting and zipped-tied the ends to keep it from moving. It took like 5 minutes and all that freaking rattling has been banished to oblivion...
I will have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't melt or come off...driving to Hamilton tonight so that'll be its first test.

Well, after the first weekend of driving around, it looks like it did the trick. Nothing has melted or set on fire, and the noise still hasn't come back at all. I'll post here again if any problems come up.

p.s. My new OEM endlinks are still holding well, and I did take my car out for some fun curves and whatnot over the weekend, all with a super-heavy box and sub in the back. I haven't gotten around to my heater hose ghetto mod myself (soooooo lazy) but I'm glad it worked.
And no, they don't have to be single, just as long as they can explain to their men why they're suddenly havin babies, and they keep gettin presents from some guy named "B Diddy" (short form for Baby Daddy a la Puff Poppadiddypop).

Ghetto mods kick ***!
Haha, I've asked around for you man...they'll need to see nekkid pics of you first, with an emphasis on the abs and crotch area...
... And DON'T post on this site where I'll see it by accident or I'll have to boycott the site and perform a DIY eyeball-removal / lobotomy.
