Question Summer performance tires..

My parents are looking into getting summer tires to replace their all-seasons (they already have snow tires so why not get summers for the summer)

They need 205/55/16

the michelins seem to be the most expensive, who knows whether they are the best or not.

It's a BMW 3 series...
What do you guys suggest and why??

I'm about to get me some Yokohama AVS ES100s. Same size you're looking for too. Have heard only good things about them.

One bad thing... if you push HARD, they'll squeel like little girls. But you've gotta push them to the limit before it does. That and don't race on them if it's hot out, you'll overheat them like I did and scortch the edges. If you're just using them to drive, you're good... they're great on the highway cuz they're quiet and they go through rain like its nothing.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. Actually gives me more reason to get them.

You already have one good one: Boilermaker1 has already said that the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position is one of the top-rated summer tires

The Goodyear F1 GS-D3 just beat it out for #1 in the Tire Rack Online Tire Survey. Go check out the survey & review links from This Page. While you are at that web page, click on "Compare This Tire to Other Max Performance Tires" and "Read all reviews for this tire"

I put them on my car and loved them--they are also usually a bit cheaper than the Bridgestones or Michelins

always a fan of the Potenza line up. Check out the Potenza RE 750. Great tire, moderate price. S-03 is an awesome tire.

Have you ever gone autocrossing on them? Go sometime, you'll find out exactly what I'm talking about. You'll have a hard time finding the limit of those tires on the street.

My Falken 512's Squealed like stuck pigs just before they let go. With The Azenis, the only time I've heard them squeak is when I've lost it in a tight corner. but then agin, dont all tires squeal when your going sideways?

Yah, but from reading tire rack's review posts, I'm not the only one who thinks its a bit too much.
