Bridgestone Potenza RE950
so yeah I've been driving on it for like 3 days now.
and man its nice. heh.
everyone should get rid of their stock firestones and grab something else. anything else.
I liked it so much I even washed my car (haven't washed it in 4 months) and I got some tire foams so the tire sidewall will be clean and shiny...
so yeah I'm still really excited about it...
and then I realized that being excited about tires kinda says something about your life.
in either case, dry performance is great... I can't wait for the rain to come so I can test out the wet performance...
but yeah, the point is... tires really really affects handling. heh.
tires/rims > springs/shocks > sways > strut/tie bars
should be that order.
now I'm really tempted to get bigger rims and try out even better tires...
and even lower the car...
but eh... too much to spend on the civic.. I duno.

Just for laughs, let's find Cap's last words on his tire choice:
Seriously, you made a good choice. Come on over to the dark side brother
Now pick out some nice lightweight wheels and then start on the suspension....heh heh
okay I've decided!
Dunlop it is!
I'll get the Bridgestone another time.
Dont anyone change my mind!
Dont do it!

hahah yeah.
I was like fudge this. I'll spend the extra hard earn cash. extra 40 bucks but I'm happy with it.
the S-03 Pole Position is also *drool*
course I think one step above that is the Goodyear Eagle F1 G3-D3

If I'm not mistaken, those are the Bridgestones that come stock on the DC5R.

If you want some EXTRA SUPER DUPER Sticky tires, pick up a set of Falken AZenis sports. I use mine for autocross, and every time I use them I am more an more impressed with the traction they give. Think of it this way, at our last event , there was a long (90DEG) right hand sweeper at the end of a group of Offset gates (that did nothing to slow you down). So I entered the Sweeper doing around 65-70. and Still made the turn. The sweeper as far as streets go , was very simalar to a Freeway on ramp, think of hitting an on ramp doing 70 with your hard street tires. (The little voice in my head was screaming SLOW DOWN!!!!!) I highly recomend these tires to any one who wants the Ultimate in street usable traction. They are DOT approved and have a wear rating of 200 (they will last about 10-15 thousand miles on the street, or about 1.5 seasons autcrossing which is maybe 200 miles)
Falken Azenis is an excellent tire... dirt cheap and can be used on the track. The only downside I could think of about them is the wet traction being not as good as it's dry traction but overall it's excellent on the dry pavement.

Ya, get them warm and they stick almost as well as an R compund tire!! the only down side to them is that when they get too hot they start to get greasy. so they arn't as good of a Road track tire as say a Kuhmo Victoracer V700. They are However one of the top tires in STS right now.

yeah so many tires.
overall driving as in city driving too. heh.
all out performance, thats another story.
I think the DC5 comes with
Bridgestone Potenza RE040 or Yokohama A046
at least, in the UK?
the RE0X0 series are the Potenza OE series tires for high performance cars I believe... the NSX and the previous R has that....
same goes for the A046 I guess.
