What's a reasonable weight for 17" rims?
I've been looking on ebay for some chrome rims, what is a reasonable weight for chrome 17"s?
I want aluminum if I can afford them so what might be a typical weight of an alum. vs steel?
also, what are some good sources to look for chrome 17"s? I've looked on the net but I can't find anyones I like.
Thanks for any info.

Number A,
17" wheels can weigh any where between 12-Lbs and 22+lbs. The cost of a wheel is ushually inversly proporionate to the weight of that wheel. (The lighter it is, the more expensive it is.) For a cast Aluminum wheel, on the light end would probably end up around 17 LBS. A Forged Aluminum wheel should be under that Weight. Please note that Weight does not equal strength!!! A lighter wheel is not nessisarily weaker then a heavy wheel.
Second, Chrome aluminum wheels are not that common,(if you compair it to the # of Painted/Polished Alumium wheels) the reason being is that Chrome is much easier to attach to Steel then to Aluminum. Ushually you will find Polished Aluminum wheels. (Gives off a better Glow in My opinion.)
Thirdly, if you are worried about weight, why are you getting Chrome wheels? As mentiond before, The Vast Majority of Chrome wheels are Steel, and Thus Heavyer then an Aluminum wheel of the same size.
Good luck with your wheel selection, Just pick what you like and dont worry about the weight. Unless you plan to autocross or drag race, then I'd advise you to forget the 17's and get a Light set of 15" or smaller.

If you're worried about weight and want a shiny rim, look for diamond cut, polished or machine finished wheels. They'll give off a shine and will be much lighter than chrome... and easier to care for. Reasonable weight for a 17" wheel would be less than 19 lbs... lighter being better, mine are 15.
