With the 45's they might rub, but if you're worried about your car being too low, you could go with coilovers so you can adjust it to the lowest possible height w/o it rubbing since you don't like the 40 series tire.

I think they are talking about the rear tires. The rear tires stick out too much, so they will rub against the rear fenders when going over bumps. I have the same setup.

I don't know if going over to coilover will avoid this problem. Civic's rear tire well is just too small for 215 series tires.

With what I said above, I'm assuming you will install rear camber kits, and align to Honda's specification after lowering your car.

I have 215/40/17 tires and they aren't too wide. They are actually the perfect width.

Frank2sy is correct with a 215/45/R17 setup your rear tires will somtimes rub if you have a 1.75" drop and negative camber. I had the exact same tire setup and Goldlines 1.75" drop and my rear tires rubbed going over bumps (but only if there were people in the back seat). Mind you my rear camber was negative, so when I got a camber kit installed and the camber was good I went from sometimes rubbing to most definitely always rubbing going over bumps w/ just me in the car. Just like Frank2sy stated our car's rear fender cannot handle such a setup, but what I did to resolve this for a measly $70 was to take it to a body shop and have them plasma cut out portions of the rear fender to allow the tires totuck under w/ good clearance. I highly suggest anyone w/ 215+ width tires to do this, if you have 205's or less you should be Ok. Hope this info. helps you and everyone else with this issue...
