So I've been running some offset numbers....

I've been running some numbers here about how the offsets are going to effect wheel location when I replace my rims. Since I still don't have my mind made up (I know, it's getting rediculous now), I ran potential maximum and minimum offsets that could occur on the widest possible wheel (7.5")...
Starting with the my stock rims (2000 Si 15x6, +38), We get a total width of 152.4 mm, 114.2 is inboard of the mounting surface, 38.2 is outside.

Now the possibilities...
7.5" = 190.5mm
+35---> 130.25mm in, 60.25mm out
+48---> 143.25mm in, 47.25mm out
The assumed "standard" +42
--------> 137.5mm in , 53.25 out

Difference from stock:
+35 16.05mm farther in (.631"), 22.05mm farther out (.868")
+48 29.05mm farther in (1.143"), 9.05mm farther out (.3562")
+42 23.05mm farther in (.907"), 15.05mm farther out (.59")
+48 AND 5mm spacer 24.05mm farther in (.946), 4.05mm farther out (.159")

So there you have it... And I think any of these should fit the car with relative ease and still look good. The extra 7/8" or so the 35mm offset would hang out should still be in the wheel well, but I'm gonna measure that when I get a chance, just to be sure. And actually, the +48 offset with the spacer turns out to be the best fit when it comes to matching the way the outside surface of the rim fits in the wheel well (it isn't really a +43 offset, so don't take it that way).
Now just because I want to see some pics... who has rims that have offsets that are on the outside and inside of these limits (high 30s or high 40s)? Photos from along side the car would be helpful for this one.
Does anyone else have any insight on these fitments on our cars?

It's probably not a question if it will look good but will you be able to turn the steering wheel lock to lock with out the tire rubbing on any inner fender pieces or suspension components? I have a +42 offset and the face of the wheel seems to be nice and level with the body of the car. Although a +45 would possibly be perfect because it does tend to stick out a little. What rims have you been thinking about purchasing?

Well, I don't know.... I can't make my mind up. That's part of the reason I ran all these numbers. I don't think I'm gonna get rims that are that big, but I ran the biggest outliers just to check what would happen. The closest I would come is with OZ Superleggeras which are +37. I'm not concerned with less offset since that would just push the wheels further away from the suspension bits. The 48's were on a set of wheels that turned out were so expensive that I elminated them. I'm leaning towards 16x7 CE28Ns or TE37s, and both of those can be had in +42, so I'm not too worried there, but I tried it just to see what would happen.

I like the CE-28N's, I think the TE-37's have gotten way too popular and there is alot of those rims around.
