Wheel Spin???
Today driving home from school, I got wheelspin when I shifted from 1st to 2nd Gear, I was at about 6500 RPMS before I Shifted, This is the first time i've ever gotten wheelspin in 2nd gear. BTW the road was dry not wet. I was wondering if anyone else's gotten their Stock civics to do this. Mine's a 2003 HX. Also i was wondering what 0-60 times people usually average for their stock civics, I've seen the one's on the internet, and think they're a little low, but I don't really know since i've never timed myself or been timed.
When my car was stock, I got wheelspin everytime I shifted from 1st to 2nd. It was more of a chirp and a skip then a spin though. Now that I have modded my car quite a bit, my tires spin a lot, even with Toyo Proxies FZ4's, and take some time to catch when I shift into 2nd. It has a lot to do with my Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I have an 01 EX.
I'm not sure about my 0-60 time. I'll have to do it after work.

I am running koni's/h&r with 205/50/15 Potenza RE-730's and in the summer I can't punch it in first gear, it just breaks them loose. Going into second it does it too. In the winter they had such poor traction in the cold temperatures I bought Dunlop snow tires.
I have stickier tires (H rated on my EX) and sometimes the tires will spin - but that of course mostly depends on how easy you let off the clutch entering 2nd. My next tires (for both my 15s and 17s) will be Z rated.
Oh, and the first thing I'd do to a cheap car is change the damn stock tires. It's worth it, even for stock suspension but most people would rather wait until they get rims which is cost effective. But don't do nothing crazy on the stock tires. They'll cause the rear of the car to fishtail on hard turns and you could lose control of the car once the traction breaks.

but thats the whole point when you're in an empty, snow covered, parking lot
When I first got my manual I used to think the little chirp or the occasional spin was "kewl" but now it's just getting annoying. Last night some shmoe driving a monte carlo tried to race me but when I got into second the tires just sat and spun and the fella pulled away. The streets were wet though and if I had my yokohamas on it would have probably helped. But yes, my tires always spin or at least chirp when i shift into second... even if it's way before redline, like as early as 5000rpm sometimes if I hit the gas hard between shifts.

I spin my tires in 2nd all the time. I have aftermarket 215/45-17's. Shift fast enough and as close to redline as possible and viola! Or... Powershift. Never let your foot off the gas. I can make them spin for like a quarter of a second in 2nd gear on dry pavement, but no more than that. I can make them chirp in 3rd.
Yeah I was driving my ride the other night had my mom and my sister in my car and I was spinning out on the way from 1 st to 2nd and I was like what the? My car has never done that before but I usually only ride with me in the car HEHE

You can usually spin tires through a few gears in the right conditions... Snow and slush on my friend's driveway in 4th with the ebrake up...
