Multi-piece over One Piece
Is there some advantage to multi-piece wheels in any respect over a single piece wheel? They seem to generally be more expensive, and a little heavier than 1 piece wheels, but a lot of the higher end rims (Volk, Blitz, BBS, OZ, Racinghart, etc...) seem to be of the 2 or 3 piece variety. So what is the advantage? Is it strength? Are the faces replaceable in case the spokes crack from fatigue? I'm curious to know....

ya, they are made so that instead of having to replace the entire rim, you can just replace whatever is bent or messed up. i think they look nicer too. not worth the money IMO tho.
I sure wish my car was newer

They're for serious racing cars where the rims may take a lot of damage, so, if there is damage, you can replace individual pieces instead of the entire thing. However, you're definately going to pay for the convienance.

So in theory... you can buy 1 set of multi-piece rims, and if you get a new car, you can change the face to the new lug pattern and offset and transfer them. Then it doesn't sound like such a bad idea. This obviously only works with rims that all mount to the same place and the face changes the offset. If the face bolts to a different place on the rim to change the offset, then you're screwed.
