Rolling the fenders

I don't want to sound like an idiot or anything, but I was just wondering if someone could explain to me what rolling the fenders does? Does it actually make your fender stick out more? And also, do you do that only in the front or both the front and the back?

As far as I understand, you roll them so that there's more clearance in the wheel well. That way when you drop/slam your car, there's no rubbing in turns and such...

It depends on how much you want to roll them. In the 7th gen's there's this little lip that connect two pieces of sheet metal inside the fender well. It sticks out into the fender well, but you can roll it up out of the way so that you have more clearance for the wheels. Then you can run a wider wheel with a bigger drop. Only in back though, the front doesn't have this lip. Well... It does. However, it's connected to the plastic fender lining. You'de have to ditch that too in order to roll it.

Further rolling would actually require bending the sheet metal out with something like a baseball bat that's placed betwean the tire and the fender. You raise the car with a jack on the side you're bending to have enough space for the bat and so that you get the correct angle. Do it carefully and you'll get a slight curve that will give you more space for yor tires. We're talking a maximum of a 1/2" difference in the middle of the curve. Just make sure that you feather the curve out to he plastic fender. That won't bend and you don't need it to since wheels travel up and down.

yup, what grey said...
also other ways for more clearance in the rear is to cut that lip. but then the ends of it can rust so you'd have to paint it or something.
also rolling with the bat might crack the paint. i would just roll it with the bat. you can make the fenders flare out a little bit, i personally like that look, it would also help with clearance

have no clue how much they charge.. i know some shops have machines that'll actually roll them for you so if i were to take it to a shop, i would try to get them to use that. i dont think its worth taking to a shop tho, i'd just do it myself

roll it, then be sure to seal the paint somehow, the paint will crack and peel off on the parts being rolled, dont let rust get in there and run amuk!!

Whoa! Now that's what I call a tool!
I thought that you could only "roll" the metal part of the fender well, but maybe you can "roll" the plastic part as well if you heat it up first. Hmm...

Because I'm local to ADR, I just called them about that fender roller. They gave me the names of two places that sell them (around here) and they are:

Tire Muffler Depot

&

Wheel Service

I dunno if you guys have those places where you live but give me a second and I will call both of them for prices on this very returnable (hopefully) product.

Tire Muffler Depot gets Xed off. They claim not to carry any products. In fact I was given another # to call from the first one.

Wheel Service's line is busy. I'll try later.

If you want, follow the link and call ADR. They can find a place that has them for you if you give them your zip code.

I found a site on Haweka Fender Lip Roller. Link. The fender roller can be rent from www.tirerack.com for free, but you'll have to pay for the shipping, which is around $30 or so. Has anyone done this? Is so, please post some pics please.

No, I don't think so. It just rolls the metal lip and tucks it inside. I don't think it created that outside shape.
