Hey,
I don't know too much about this stuff but I'm trying to learn and have a question...

I want to get 17" rims for my 2002 EX Coupe. Do I need to calibrate my speedometer so it wont be off and so the mileage will be accurate? If so, where and how do you do that?

I don't think you will be able to calibrate the speedometer.

Try this powerful tool to calculate how far off the reading be.

Mine were roughly 4% off.. Rims & tires = 17x7 205/40/17

If your mileage and speedometer is off that doesnt seem worth it. everything is then messed up. are you sure theres no way to calibrate the speedometer to match the tire size? i thought you could but i may be wrong...

you could... read this thread.

if you think they're not worth it. stick with the stock wheels. There are plenty of people here have aftermarket wheels and i don't think they even mind that the odometer reading being a "little" off.

did you even try the tire calculator? Use this tire size.. 205/45/17. Your odometer reading will only be 0.8% faster than the stock..

Yeah, i tried the tire calc but i just want to get my odo fixed and stuff if i get 17's if not, i probably wont be able to get them. i was thinking about just putting on the si rims (2002-2003) with a xenon body kit if not. I really like crashoverride's car...so i dunno.

depending on the size, your speedo might not even be off by much.. for example, for every 50k miles, it might read 50,250 miles. 250 extra miles out of 50k, big deal... but if your really **** about it, maybe the dealer could do it but i dont think its cheap

If you get 17" and want to be as close to stock size just get 215/45/17 tires. There only a few mm off of stock diameter and radius. When you tires start to wear it wont matter anyways. If you dont like the 45 profile you'll have to step up to 205/40/18 combo, which is the exact same size as stock.

Ack my bad... 215/40/18 are available, though doesnt seem to be many choices.

225-35-18 is the closest. might have problems with 225 tho

the thing is I have to have it all 100% accurate and cant void any warranties...
my mom bought me this car so she would know i would be able to have reliable safe transportation and the only reason i got new was for warranty so i cant mess up the odometer or speedometer.
im going to go up to a local customizing shop tomorrow before work i think to ask them what they can do.
how does the dealer have 17's on certain civics? i doubt the odometer is off on a brand new car they are selling...how much would the dealer charge??

changing rims shouldnt void any warranties. if your really paranoid, just switch it to stock wheels when you take it to the dealer. sometimes people worry just a little too much.
