What's wrong with my tires?
I know this may seem annoying and has been posted before, but I am having problems with my tires. I just rotated them the first time since I had them on, and they seem to be fine till I hit 80 mph. They vibrate a bit then. Plus, when I corner they seem to vibrate a bit. I made sure I rotated front to back, taking care to make sure the directional pattern of the tire is going the right way. Also, the hub rings are installed..I tried to tighten the lugs a bit, and balance the tire pressures, but it did not help. I am beginning to think the tread that are on the tires that have been rotated to the front are still fresh, so it may take some time till they "break in". Help guys!

Your tires are unbalanced.. it's possible one of the balancing weights came off.. if it does this at low speed in corners..it could be that your lugs are loose..which I would check right away before you find yourself on the highway making a sparkshow as you watch yuor wheel roll down the road

yeah, i just got new rims and tires too, and at higher speeds the steering wheel vibrates like a biotch. so tomorrow im just gonna bring it in to tires plus and pay $20 for them to rotate and balance all 4 tires. they're also gonna check the alignment. I think its a good deal, tho i can rotate them myself. they call it the vibration elimination special or sumthin.

Thanks Mohawk! I actually took em off last night to see if everything is okay, and I re-installed em. They seem to be a bit better now. I realize that it might not be a perfect ride since they are bigger tires, and all the lugs are tight as can be...sucks that I lost my lug nut key last night, gotta get a new one! Also, I checked the original weights they put on there, and they seem to be intact.
As for your problem Silverstreak, I would get them dynamically balanced. I ended up taking them to conventional tire places 4 times before the last one got it right and fixed the problem. Its the place where they put the wheel weights, supposed to be put on the inside of the wheel, not on the outer lip...

Tires should only be rebalanced when you feel them shaking or when you remove them. And dynamically balancing is way better. I thought I was insane when my car was shaking and such, but a good balance job made everything awesome.

I had the same problem. I got my rims and tires mounted and balanced and then shipped to me. The vibrations were killing me so I finally took it to the shop and now it's all better. I was pissed that I had to pay the company that I bought my rims from to balance them and then get them rebalanced though.....
Just got a pair of 17" rims myself and the steering wheel does alot of vibrating sometimes past 65mph. Supposed to bring it in friday for some wierd weights they are going to put in the center of my wheels. WTF is that? Anyone know what they are talking about? Strange thing also is that car seems to pull off to either left or right when the wheel vibrates. I'll post more when I get them to fix everything. Nice thing about Les Schwab is that if you buy tire/wheel packages from them they keep fixing the problem till they're gone and im happy

ya i checked and on the front wheels i'm missing all of the weights on one side and half on the other... on the rears, everything is there... is it possible that the weights would fall off(the sticker ones) due to it being too hot?

err i just took it back and had them balanced AGAIN. i saw them do it and checked the wheels and saw that they had a different number or weights on them. i'm thinking their machine sucks. i do not want to pay $50 at a different shop so imma try to have them do it till it gets fixed but for now he said he's going to order 2 more hubrings for the rear wheels. so ya i'll be back next week.
btw anyone know the difference between static balancing and dynamic balancing? how do the machines look? cause i'm thinking they have a static when it should be dynamic.

didn't read any posts, but you need to find a better shop to do the wheel balance again. Vibration at a certain speed is almost always balance related.
hehehe I just put my new 17" rims on yesterday - after a balance there still vibrating. I'll wait a few days and then take them to the shop and get them dynamic balanced - as I know they didn't dynamic balance them.
