16 inch rims?
Anyone out there with 16" rims on their 7th gen?
I just recently got a '02 Canadian LX model Black sedan (which comes with the 185/65-15 firestone tires on steel wheels)
I really want to get some rims, I'm looking for something nice looking but I kinda find the 17"s too big for my taste.
Plus I've never really had low-profile tires w/ large wheels before, worried about damaging the wheels (hitting a pothole, curb or something) which I think is easier to do the lower the profile of the tires?
I'll also save a few bucks, but not alot, so that really isn't the main considering factor.
Anyone out there feel the same as me who has 16" rims? I'd like to see some pics before I decide. I don't want to get something and regret not getting 17"s later.
I'm looking at the ASA JS6 if anyone is wondering...

I have 15" rotas at the present time. My tire/wheel combo is very light but the rims are too small and aren't wide enough. I plan to upgrade to 16" rims and a 50 series tire pretty soon. 16" rims will look very good and will handle just as good as a 17" but with a little better acceleration performance. Check out member's rides.
I have 17" rims right now, and sometimes wish I went bigger, if that says anything. I drive sh*tty roads daily...actually my car doesn't even know what a nice road looks like....and I haven't had any problems with bending. I suggest 17s, because they provide a nice balance between comfort, practicality and looks.

ZRPM, I'm in the Toronto area.... It is a Black Sedan, LX trim.
Mbow, I had heard about smaller rims being better for acceleration, one of the other reasons I was thinking to avoid going too big. I haven't made any other mods to the car performance wise and I don't want to sap any more power by putting on huge wheels than I need to to get the look I want... The civic is nice and all but I sure wish they sold the Sedan with the VTEC in Canada (without spending the bux on an Acura EL) cuz I do feel a bit underpowered compared to my old '92 Accord EX-R (I think it was around 140hp). I have checked out members rides in the past but just about everyone seems to have 17" rims (or bigger!)
RevHigh, I am not even considering something bigger than 17".... but thanks for your thoughts.

Someone just recently had a thread asking which set of 16s he should get. I forget his name though. He ended up getting some 16" Motegi MR12s. I'm not sure if he has them yet though. Just do a quick search and you should be able to find it.

Right now I have on 16" Konig Monsoons (soon to be for sale) w/205/50 tires, I just received my 17" Tenzo AV7's on Friday and am just waiting for the lugs to put them on. IMO the 16's were fine, but i thought the 17's would compliment my ride a lil more

Usually, the smaller the rim, the lighter the rim. The stock 15" wheels weigh around 21lbs eachs. I don't know what the lx's weigh. Anyhow, if you want a wheel/tire combo that is lighter than stock AND want the car to look good, go with a 16". Check out the rota line of wheels and see if they have anything you like. Some of the Rotas are light and pretty cheap. Just remember that the bigger the rim gets, the more the tire is going to weigh. That is why I don't want 17s. Even with a light-weight 17", you are still going to be pretty heavy. Plus, a 17" rim doesn't handle any better than a 16" wheel of the same width. 17" and above are more on the looks side of the pendulum. 16" and below are more on the performance side.
I have 16" rims with low profile tires and it isnt too bad. though my car isnt lowered yet the wheel gap is killer on the eyes. lol. but i still get props for it. mine are 10 spoke ICW racing rims. just do what you think is cool and that is all that matters

I'm not sure how much the wheels I am looking at weigh.... I went to Tirerack.com and put in 2002 Civic Sedan EX (same stock wheel size as the Canadian LX sedan) and it was one of the wheels that I liked that they had... A local shop said they could get me any wheel on tirerack.com and their price for the ASA JS6 was pretty good and I like the looks.
Anyone know if ASA has a homepage where I could find out how much the 16" JS6's weigh?

Check this site out....
They don't have the 6 listed but the five should give you some idea. The look kinda heavy to be honest.

Whats wrong with 205/50 - 16 ? good selection of those as well.
According to tire calc 205/50 205/55 are either smaller or bigger than my stock tire size (185/65-15)by the same amount, not sure which would be preferred....
215/50 - 16 is the perfect diameter compared to my stock, but you are right the selection at that size is bad... What is wrong with BF Goodrich though, they are made by Michelin??
Actually the local place I'm going to get my wheels has 215/50 - 16 Michelin MXX in stock, but I can't find any info about these tires on the Michelin page... The price is pretty good though, $10 per tire cheaper than the 205/50 - 16 Michelin Pilot Primacy

I'm not looking to spend a bunch on wheels, especially since I'll have to buy new tires (I'd rather have the good rubber)...what do you guys think about the X-Wheels 16" rims at tires.com? It's kind of a simple design, nothing fancy, and it's 83.00. Does anyone know anything about the company?

The tires that are already on the wheels are 205/40/16's they're nice but way too low profile and i don't feel like getting my speedometer/odometer reset properly (last time i had them on i added an extra 500 miles or such.. ugh).. kinda partial to nitto (what' s on the wheels now), or bridgestone (NOT firehazardstone).. had yoko's on my altima, mebbe i'll check them out again..
