My 5 lug swap

So I've started my 5 lug swap with RSX type-S brakes.

The swap has been straight forward so far (except Breaking a bolt on the Rear spindle (i hate NY Rust). I only have one question, since i bought the type S front knuckles, can i just press in the RSX base hubs and bearings, or do i have to go out and look for new base model knuckles?

Re: My 5 lug swap

So i looked it up myself and the type S and Base knuckles are exactly the same (P/N: 51210-S6M-010) So there is no reason the base hubs should not press in nicely. I've been making good progress on the front, pressed out the hub and bearing, and lower ball joint, sandblasted and primed the knuckles, calipers, and caliper brackets.

Looks nice. What type of coating are you planning using for them?

Re: My 5 lug swap

Thought about doing something similar with mine (high temp black or maybe powdercoat them). I have the parts just laying around because I haven't gotten any 5-lug wheels. You'll have to post up when you finally paint them.

Are some of the bolts broken off inside the caliper bracket?

Re: My 5 lug swap

Ok so my backing plates should be coming in tommorow and im going to get painting soon. I have a question though for you guys. Right now i have a set of 16 inch 02-04 RSX rims for my civic. They look good, but I found a set of 05-06 RSX type S for 600$ with tires. Should i pick them up or is that to much money. Here are the picts from CL

Re: My 5 lug swap

Could be a good deal if the tires are not worn too much but it all comes down to what you're willing to pay. I think I have seen them go for $400 w/o tires on another forum site.

I picked up a pair of 05-06 base model wheels and tires locally for $300 but one wheel was really curbed.

Re: My 5 lug swap

Ok so I'm making slow progress. The backing plates came in, i pressed the wheel bearings in, but my boss ordered the wrong retaining clips for the wheel bearing so that will take another week. Can't wait to get this together.

Here are my shiny new backing plates

Here are my control arms after i sandblasted them, painted them black also

Re: My 5 lug swap

Looks good. I definitely want to do this with my hubs... I wonder how out of place those matte black calipers will look behind the wheels.
