Which tires to get?
Re: Which tires to get?
Actually 1010tires.com has the Falkens Ze-912 for $150/tire. I also found out that buying from American online retailers isn't worth it 'cause I'm from the far north. (Canada) So, I found out that even though they have cheaper prices, expensive shipping costs, taxes, and duties make it about the same usually more.
So, just to clear things up.
Falken Ziex Ze-912 - $150.99
Toyo Proxes 4 - $195.99
Pirelli P-zero Nero M+S - $195.99
All prices are in Canadian dollars from www.1010tires.com

nitto neogen ftw. quiet, good tread life, great in rain. What more could you ask for, and they're probably cheaper than those other tires too.
discounttiredirect.com
I got my 205/40/17's from them for $66/tire.

Re: Which tires to get?
sorry alex... its gonna be that way with you living in canada. did you try seeing if any stores up there have anything cheaper than online...doubt it tho but it may be worth a try. i would compare buying them local to buying them online and see how much of a difference they are...just out of curiosity how much is it from edgeracing.com?

Actually the local Canadian retailers have astronomical prices. A local place wanted $274/tire
for the Falkens. Another place wanted $350
for Kumho Ecsta SPT. So, Local is out of the option. Again, thanks again for everyone's help.
BTW Filipinop I'm Flip too!!! Woot!

Re: Which tires to get?
alex, what i meant was how much was it plus the shipping and what not... i've shipped to canada before and i know that its a bitch to get things up there, all tho i've never been there.
Re: Which tires to get?
Edgeracing doesn't seem to ship to Canada. I was also looking at the Toyo T1rs. There mileage rating is only 20 less than the Proxes 4. Does this mean that they bassically wear the same. Any thoughts on the T1Rs?
Re: Which tires to get?
Well, I kicked out the Pirellis because I just don't think they belong on a Civic. Anyways, I decided to bring the Falkens back into the race after reading that consumer reports named them best Ultra High Performance All Season tire. I think I'm leaning towards the Proxes though....
Re: Which tires to get?
A little late on the response, but I've never had stock tires/wheels on my car so I can only compare it to the Hankook Ventus II I had before which sucked. The Proxes are quieter, never noticed the noise so far with the Proxes(might have just gotten use to it) and it doesn't seem to follow the round the way the Hankooks did.
The Hankooks lasted 30k with a 340 tread rating so hopefully these Proxes can make it at LEAST another 10-20k(all I need before I sell it
). Other than that your gonna have more noise and a harder ride just because there is no sidewall compared to stock, but its not bad.

Re: Which tires to get?
I'm also from Canada and it took me a while and a lot of research not only to find what types of rims and tires to buy, but also who to purchase from. remember that ontop of the high shipping prices, youll probably end up paying a lot in duties and taxes as well.
i got my rims/tires set from discounttiredirect.com and i was more than satisfied with them. they had them shipped to me in 4 days (united states to calgary, alberta). the nicest thing about it all is that they have a 'deal' with ups, so when you pay them their shipping/handling cost, you will never have to pay duties or taxes or anything at your door. you pay discount tire direct one payment for your order + the shipping costs and its a done deal. you definitely cannot go wrong with this company. the tires and rims are all brand new, warrantied, mounted and balanced, so theyre ready to throw on your car.
anyway, as for tires...ive tried a lot of different types out, and the ones i currently have are so far my favourites. theyre the Kuhmo Ecsta AST tires 215/45/r17. great treadwear and great grip...theyre all seasons too.

Re: Which tires to get?
Allright well I finally bought 'em. I bought a set of 4 Enkei Evo 5 with the
(Drum Roll) TOYO PROXES 4 in 215/40/18. The price of the Pirelli tire went up, so the choice was easy. I'll make sure to post some pics once their installed. Thank you everyone again for all your input!
