Hi, im new here and i have a question regarding my 01 civic ex auto. Yesterday i took my car to the track and i ran my best time of 18.1 but typically, i run an average of 18.3. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how i could possibly get my car to run a 17.5? I currently have a 2" catback exhaust with a 4-1 header, apexi V-AFC, Aem cam gear, and a troter body spacer. I have a feelings that something might be wrong with my sparkplugs.

bottom line, get some nitrous to get where you want to be. An auto will never be fast if you're staying N/A.

i understand him just fine. anyway, you need to get your car tuned on a dyno. especially the cam gear and vafc. that was the whole point of buying them right? cam is alot of hassle but should add a bit more power, again with tuning. also you can make your car lighter and it wont have to work as hard.

You can always play with those things yourself and get them right.
The Manual Transmission swap will really get you to your goal the best. After this if your still not tuned optimally, go to a shop and get dyno tuned.

As far as your car, its really hard to put numbers down if your driving an automatic, possibly a swap is in your future?

Re: help me with me D17A2
try some denso iridium spark plugs, and get some forged rims that will reduce weight alot since its rotating mass. but if you are selling soon, i wouldnt spend too much on it.
Re: help me with me D17A2
i think the best and easiest way for you to get faster times is to strip out the whole car which is free. then either go nitrous or 5speed swap because i realistically see it very hard for you to reach a 17.5 in a auto tranny. you could get a stage 2 cam and raise your redline but in order to do that you would need a better engine management. you wouldnt be able to get the full potential of the cam without being able to raise the redline. however, if you did get the cam and raised the redline a little a 17.5 isnt out of the question.
Re: help me with me D17A2
I run with , 2 rim 15 inch front , and 18 inch rear with tires 225-40-18 , I thinks this not help me it all

Re: help me with me D17A2
If your going to sell the car, then i wouldn't invest too much money. i'd try to go for weight reduction. I'd start with simple stuff like removing the spare tire and such

if you looked around a little harder you would find that you already posted up on the NITROUS FAQ. that thread has EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW about applying nitrous to our motors. here...

Re: help me with me D17A2
If you're considering the nitrous route, read up on the FAQ section that was posted and build up your motor first if you don't want it to die that fast on you.
either way, putting nitrous will prematurely cause ur motor to fail, but building it up will prolong it and allow you to put in a higher shot of nitrous.
Re: help me with me D17A2
you could look into getting a high stall torque converter, that would help, i have heard of .5 to 1 sec increases in imports with just a torque converter install. IPT, level10 and JMO all should do a it for you. I believe they are modifications on a stock converter. Its more than 300 dollars more like 500 plus install costs which i would guess would rival a clutch installation cost. just some food for thought. nitrous might put too much strain on the weak auto tranny so i duno if i would go that way, but its always possible.

no. d3 just means the car uses only first three gears. it still has 1, 2, 3 but no 4. i think going to lightweight (forged) 15 inch rims will help you alot.
Re: help me with me D17A2
hey civic-driver: wait were you saying that getting a torque converter is a better route for his automatic than doing a manual transmission swap?
more like 500 plus install costs which i would guess would rival a clutch installation cost
