Powdercoating Si Alloys
Whats up guys...I really couldnt find much on this subject, so I was wondering if any of you guys had experience with this or could point me in the right direction....I have 2000 Si alloys on my 05 Lx Coupe and they are beginning to get really chipped and the paint is fading...I really want to get them painted....is this something I could take to Maaco and get it done, or would I have to go somewhere else.....let me know what you guys think......
Re: Powdercoating Si Alloys
well first of all, si wheels couldn't have fading paint, they're polished alloys. second, do you want them to look nice again or do you really want another color? i'm pretty sure there was an AWESOME write up on egcivic.com about polishing your wheels. it's a tedious process but so worth it in the long run.

Re: Powdercoating Si Alloys
you need to find a wheel shop that does powdercoating, but idk if they can do anything about the chips. prolly not. as for the finish, the si wheels have a clear coat and when that gets taken off, the metal wheel underneath will start to rust. theres no paint, just a protective coating.

Re: Powdercoating Si Alloys
alright, thanks guys...I was just trying to see what I can do to make my wheels look better...I might just polish them.....
Re: Powdercoating Si Alloys
yea theres a good write up on a diy wheel paint job on here somewhere. if you dont go that route, it will prolly be worth it to try and polish them yourself and have a body shop throw some clear on it (or even do that yourself too. you can get it in a spray can)
