Powdercoating Rims

Ok I have a silver sedan with 17" Motegi gunmetal DP6's. The lip is peeling and I was wondering how powdercoating them black would look. I know that I will lose the polished lip but I hate the peeling. Does anybody have pics of this? I just want to see how the black rims will look w/o the polished lip.

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Powdercoating Rims

Like they said, take them back if they are warranted. Otherwise I'm assuming you could have them powdercoated and just polish the lip. The clear on my rims peeled so I stripped all the clear, painted them black and just polished the lip. They came out great.

Re: Powdercoating Rims

You could powdercoat them, but yes you will loose the polished lip. The powder coat is more durable then paint, but I used to have a set of 18's drove a ton of miles on them and only have one tiny chip in the entire set. Powder might be a little bit cheaper just for the fact that less work is involved. You should post a picture in the photochop forum and see if someone can do it for you and see what it looks like.
