What size bolts?

(diameter, pitch and length) are used to hold the front rotors to the hub? I tried to change rotors last night, but didn't have a philips bit for my ratchet. So, I would like to swap out the philips heads for hex sockets (aka Allens) once I do actually get them off.

thanks...

Re: What size bolts?

Those screws are gonna require an impact screw driver to get them off.

I don't know the facts about the screw specs though.

Re: What size bolts?

dont bother putting them back on. All they're for is assembly at the factory. the caliper prevents the rotor from coming off, and the wheel holds the rotor in place. Just drill em out and forget about them. Otherwise every time you need to change them, you'll fight it. BMWs have allen head retaining screws, I know from experience they're no easier to remove.

if you're hell bent on using those things, its 6mm (I think) machine screw with a conical head. its around 12-16mm long. Best thing to do is get one out whole and take it with you.

Re: What size bolts?

Good point. I had first thought about leaving them off, but I hadn't seen the hub, so wasn't sure if that's all they were for...

They're going in the trash...

Thanks!

Re: What size bolts?

I just used a phillips head scredriver with channel locks on the end to get extra leverage. Use your body and 1 hand to push, and the other to turn the channel locks on the screwdriver.
