205/45 vs 215/40
Which would you buy - i've got 215-45-17 now and they slightly rub in the back with some neg camber. Well since it's dropped, i need new tires and want some little extra room in the rear fenders. Which tire size is better?
and how much different is the heights? I know profile is percent of width, but don't feel like doing the math?

if I can do math correctly, seems like the 205/45 has slightly taller sidewall which = better rim protection in these shitty new england roads....BUT I lose the 10mm of width, which I suppose is worth it....any comments?

im now running 215/40/17 (nexen) and have problems at all
dropped around 3 inches or so (tucking in the rears)
i was running 215/45/17 (falken) prior and had no problems with those either. my rear is tucked in, and have very very minimal space between my fender and my tire.. i could roll my fenders (or got 205's), but i dont want too.. but they never touch anyways..
the difference between a 40 and 45 is maybe just half an inch or so.. and when i first got my 40's on.. i liked the look of 45's better... but now im used to the 40 profile..
why dont u just roll ur fenders? 215 to 205 won't be too bad of a diff anyways..

yeah, my damn rim offset is the issue - just looking for tire size recomondation, I had 205-40-17 w/o drop and there was mad wheel gap, so I think i'll go w/ 205/45/17
Think of it this way. . . If you decide to get another size other than 215-45-17 you have to think of what tires are made in those size bcause im pretty sure thats not a common size to be running. . . maybe 205's yes but i doubt 215-40 just my 2 cents.
Yes that may be true that they do have tires but what are the chances of getting good decent tires? and how well is your speedometer? Most of the tires in that size are really good but really expensive, so if your looking for decent tires your not in luck its either really good or really bad. In My Opinion

Your alignment makes a difference too.
I'm sure everyone here has alignment specs that are within "safe range" which could be a range of one degree or more.
That makes a big difference on rubbing issues.
I went from 205/40 to 215/40 and started having rubbing issues in the back.
-1.5 camber on both sides solved that problem.

For that to happen it could possibly be your Toe also not just camber. I'm pretty sure your rims are 7 inch width or 7.5 either way they can fit. Might be stretched a lil but it can fit.
