18's bending?

Right now im the process of deciding between 17's and 18' lowpros. roads around my area , (mi) are not too bad a few raised bumps but no potholes. what are the chances of ruining a rim w/ 18's and can 17's bend also??
thanks guys.

any rim can bend. Speed, size of tire, stiffness of suspension, and driving habits can all lead to an increase in the chance you will bend a rim. Go with a 17" wheel with a 215-40-17 tire and you should be fine.

yeah dont go that small on the tire if anything go for a 215/45/17 or even a 215/50/17 but if you must stay with a 40 series then go with a 225/40/17. that will give the best ride and traction out of any of the sizes mentioned. doing a 205/40/17 you may have like 2" of sidewall which will make for a very harsh ride and the 215/40 wouldnt be much better. but it all depends on the drop as well. with a small drop go for a larger tire.

^Yeah, I can't wait until my 205/40/17's wear out. They are wicked loud and 2 of my wheels have imperfections in them (dents) the next tire will be 45's
