offset rota ss
what up guys . . . happy 4th of july weekend.
i'm planning to put a bid on this rota slipstream . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand...spagenameZWDVW
i was wondering with an offset of +38, would that be a problem for my car?
i dn't really understand the the meaning of offset, so if someone could explain that to me, that would be great.
thanks
anyone?

Copied from the FAQ
Q: The offset on the rims I want is different than stock, will it work?
A: It depends. If there is not enough offset, you'll have trouble with the brakes fitting in. There are also some rims with very wide lips ("Deep Dish") that are intended for RWD cars that may not work. The offset is the distance (in mm) from the centerline of the rim to the mounting face on the rim. Positive offsets will bring the wheel further into the fenderwell, Negative will push them out. Anything in the 37-44 range should work no problem, but it also depends on how wide the new rim is. Remember that the offset of the new rim is relative to that rim, NOT the stock one. Assuming positive offsets (you shouldn't use negatives, the car will be bowlegged): If the new wheel has less offset (lower number), add the offset difference to 1/2 the difference in width between the 2 rims. If the new wheel has more offset, subtract the offset difference. Less than stock will push the rim further out, more than stock will pull it in.
Offset Calculator - It's a little cheesy, but it works... it's an excel spread sheet so just open it when it asks

Dude.. you are asking a great question, but those wheels you are bidding on are more suitable for a 1987 Chrysler Lebaron than our 7th gens.. Man those are some doozies, they need to go into the ugliest wheel thread.

38 should work..stock 99 si's are +42...the honda average is 40-45 so 38 shouldnt have too much of a problem...but 2 mil's can make it look like its sticking out a lot

i appreciate your opinions . . .
i dn't think they look all that bad . . . reason i purchased them is because they cheap and imo looks pretty decent . . . these are going to be pretty much my winter wheels wrapped with falken's ziex516 205/50/15. i ended up not buying it off of that guy on ebay. rota's i got are 15x6.5 with an offset of 40, which came in today, brand spankin new!!! just waiting for the rubbers to come in. i thought this would be pretty sick for winter shoes since i really really hate the hubbies and i hate it when it's just steelies, besides, tires are bald now. so what the hell . . .
someone said 17's . . . i got 17's, BBS rk, so dnt hate. only problem is it's sitting in my garage. fender's need to be rolled and the new (nexen n3000) tires need to be put on it. body shop i go to is closed till the end of the the month, guy went on vacation so i kinda have to wait. would do it my self but i'm afraid i'd mess it up.
there goes my update . . .
i'm assuming TR is toms river??? i'm a little more up north in the brunswick area. . .
