No Hub Centric Ring....

My rims came in today and i went to Mavis to have it installed and he said that my rims didnt come with hub centric rings, and that i need em, do i really need em, and if i do is it easy to install....oh and also when trying to put my caps in, the front popped in fine, but the back wheels they got this gold bulge in the middle of the rim, looks like its part of the axle....wtf is that, thanks and i will post pics when i get home
