18's- 35 or 40?
how low of a drop will they be seeing?
just scanning thru the tire calculator, id probably go with an 215/40/18 for better ride comfort and doesnt alter your speedometer as much as a 35 series.

i'm dropped a little over 3" on 40 series and no rub... granted, you can't slide a piece of paper between the tire and the fender, and i have some sick a$$ negative camber, but it's not rubbing...

yeah go with the 40 series. huge difference in ride comfort from the 35 to 40s. i hated riding on 18s with the 35s but then i got 40s and its all good now.
What width are we discussing here? That is an important number guys. The 35 or 40 is a percentage. So, a 335/30 is going to have a taller sidewall than a 215/45. FYI, a 215/35 is an inch shorter overall than a 225/40. I ran 215/35s. Then I ran 225/40s. Both fit. Wheel offset and width is equally as important to tire rub as tire size. Honestly, I didnt notice a major ride quality difference between 225/40 and 215/35. Oh yea, and an advertised drop of 2" doesnt mean that it is going to be 2" on your car. Audio crap, a fat girlfriend, even a full tank of gas can affect ride height.
Yes. To figure out sidewall height multiply the tread width (first number) by the 2nd number as a percentage (put a decimal in front of it - 35 = .35). This will give you the sidewall height in millimeters. To convert to inches, divide it by 25.4. Its not too hard.

hey..im running the same tires. im on Neuspeed sport springs, stereo doesn't weigh ALL that much but im sure its heavy...and right now i have a huge *** Brinks Safe in the trunk..yes im tucking, no, im not rubbing. .
i'm running FEDERAL tires with 215/40/18 and i had to get my fenders cut due to rubbing in the back. What tires should i get next so i won't rub?
my body shop told me to get some STRETCH tires, in which is a tire that extends all the way to the edge of your lip, but it goes inward as the tire get closer to your fender. Hopefully you guys know what i mean.

GO 40. If it rubs raise your car..
Alll it takes is a one or two inch bump at 40 or so mph for the lips to bend if your rims has lips.
My BUDDYCLUB rims 18 x 8 bent on all 4 lips going through a rectangle cutout in the ground at 40mph. thats with 40 series tires. Had I had 35 im sure the rim would have bent itself.
and plus i didnt rub at all and i have 18 x 8 with +43mm offset!! thats 8 inches wide! im also lowered to be about .5 inch gap all around on D2 racing coilovers. 215/40/18!!! NOOO rubbing!!

Go 40's more rubber to protect your rims and a smoother ride. I'm on a 40 series tire. I you have rubbing you can always roll your fender or trim it, but it's all up to you.

215/35/18 on my 40 offset SubZeros, pretty well slammed with no gap up front and very slight tuckage in back. No rubbing at all, of course, but everyone above is right, the ride was slightly harsh so I did my best to compensate with damper adjustment.

supposed to be 2.5" on Neuspeed Race springs, but with a pair of 15"s and a full size spare in the trunk it was closer to 4" at it's lowest...
here's my Vic with 40 series g-Forces and Neuspeed Races (with no interior, so picture it about .5" lower for a normal application):
