Mounting tires?
Mounting tires?
Has anyone ever mounted tires on aluminum rims without a machine and is it hard? Iv'e done steel wheels but I'm afraid of bending or breaking the weaker aluminum. And the tire I did was a higher profile tire.

Do it with the machine. You're almost guaranteed to scratch them trying to pry the tire on. $60 for mounting won't kill you.

why would you think it'd be easy anyway? this makes me think of that scene in harold and kumar....
if you're even thinking of mounting anything under a 60 series with your hands and 2 crowbars..instead of a machine..forget it...plus the added thought of aluminum makes me shudder
shoot take em to walmart...hehe if you got your valvestems already and you don't want them to mount on the vehicle its like 10 bux a tire

I was expecting a response like "Iv'e tried and its very hard". There are many things I have done to my car, that people say are to hard, that I think are very easy. So of all the people that have responded, how many have actually tried?

Lets put it this way... I made it as far as the crowbar, the rim and an Azenis. As soon as the crowbar touched the rim, I was done.
Aluminum is much much softer than the crowbar which is hardened steel. So you'll leave an impression on the rim.... hence... get the machine to push for you.
