my first time was actually my first three and only times! got a nail, fixed, two days later, tire was flat. took it back (thought they messed up), turned out it was another nail (or DID they forget to take the nail out???), fixed, two weeks later, ANOTHER FREAKING NAIL!! FIXED!!! not a problem since (even sliding into a curb hard enough to dent the steelie didn't cause the tire to go flat!!!)
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

plugs are crap... save up for a new tire! ive never had a plug that lasted or know of any. usually they wear down and even if done well can still leak a little or get loose. if you can get the money for a new one and keep the plugged one as a spare.

You shouldn't have a tire plugged, it splits the bands and puts a weak spot in the tread. Get the tire pulled and PATCHED from the inside. Its also a better seal. You shouldn't need to replace a tire for a nail in the tread, but do not race on the tire. If you race (road course), the tire is garbage now.

Really didn't have a choice on the plug. I was to far away from any place that did a patch and was unable to take the tire off myself at the time.. My intention was to just have it plugged and goto a service shop and have them remove the plug and patch it... Just need time.

Its more work to patch it.... they can plug it on the rim. Thats why they do it. Usually if you prod them they'll patch it for you.

Why not just do like my shop does and get the best of both worlds?
A plug patch combo (couldn't find a pic of an all rubber) it's one piece
-drill outside to inside
-dismount tire
-grind down inside to satiny-smooth
-scrape and clean
-cement
-pull plug thru till nipple in center of patch disappears
-rub patch down
-remount tire
-run down a porsche
doesn't ruin the tire like ya say boilermaker...unless the tech is a monkey fycking a coconut
