Rims on Stock Height
Hey, let me just say this is my first post, but i've been reading this forum for a week or so and its really good.
I have a 2005 Civic Sedan in that magnesium colour (dark grey)
Im going to start looking for aftermarket rims soon, but dont want to lower my car, just want to keep it on stock height.
i want to have 16,s but dont want the car too look wierd and jacked up.
Can i get some 16s and some 205/55/16 size tires? or will i be fine with 205/50/16?
How about 17s?
and can people please post pics of their civics with rims on stock height if you guys have any? (yes i checked the sticky, but i wanna see more!)

If you don't plan on lowering it, get the 55s. They're a tad larger than stock whereas 50s are a tad smaller making the gap bigger. 17s at stock height starts to get into the realm of looking like a 4x4, so if you're not going to lower it, I wouldn't go there.

it's a loose loose situation if you don't want to lower your car.
Like the picture above.. you run 205/50/16 and it'll look like you're 4x4'n. But if you get 205/55/16... the sidewall will be way to big and make your rims look smaller then they are. You'll have a tiny bit less gap then with the 50's but you'll also sit a little higher then normal...

The smaller the sidewall gets and the bigger the rim gets, the more important it becomes to make the wheel gap fit. What makes lowered cars look so good is the fact that the rim and the wheel well become more or less concentric (same center point). They didn' make the car come like that, so when you get into big wheels, you really notice it. Your options become pretty limited. Wheel selection will also make a difference. A wheel with lots of spokes creates an illusion of size. A wheel with a big lip looks smaller than it is, etc....
If you're not going to drop it, your best option really is to stick with 15" wheels. There's lots to choose from.
You may also want to think about dropping the car and buying rims later. Or picking up someone's gently used rims (lots of people go through wheels like underwear) and putting the rest of the money towards springs and upgraded shocks. Believe me, no one is happy with a 4x4.

Here's my car with 16" on stock suspension. I forogt what series the tires are (brother's wheels) but it doesn't look TOO horrible... I guess the lip kit makes it look closer to the ground.
Here's my rims with 17 inch Tenzo Passion 5's stock height
